Some comments on the Maltese Language system,
http://cimu.magnet.mt.
This is an open letter, sent to the appropriate people responsible for MLS
as well.
I am working on a not unrelated system for web page authoring in Maltese
on the Macintosh [but to be viewable by all browsers]. More details when
that is ready.
*** Again, congratulations on the MLS software. I have been using it (to
do
an assignment in Maltese.) I had written my concerns about the backslash
key before, where the US layout which is quite common has no key to the
left of the Z. Therefore, using that key for a Maltese letter makes it
hard for a touch typist to learn a consistent layout.
*** The dictionary is in English letters, as far as I can see.
*** It doesn't set the 'Language' to Maltese. You can tag text as Maltese
and it will have it's own set of autocorrects, dictionaries, and
preferences. Right now, text is left tagged as English and highlighted as
being spelling errors. This is something the user could do.
*** I Don't see the purpose of the comment/insert file/search buttons -
you can add those manually to the toolbar, if I am not mistaken?
Thanks and regards,
Steven R. Loomis
