Unfortunately, they probably do. Users like you and me (in the computer
industry I think we'd be called "power users") are almost certainly in the
minority. The vast majority of their market probably never realise, for
example, it's possible to make your own maps.

You get the same problem everywhere - my PVR, for example. It's now an old
model but it's got a USB port on it which allows me to transfer TV
programmes to my laptop. What a wonderfully useful feature. On the
replacement model they've dropped it, presumably as a cost saving. Again, I
doubt that more than a couple of percent of their marketplace will even
notice.

I just hope my current GPS and my current PVR give me many more years of
reliable service. I would hate to have to upgrade to the latest models.
