Re: [ GPS Maps ] How to get a central line

Not navigable rivers but roads. I think that, apart from allowing routing, a
one-line road allows for easy viewing and representing in GPS, rather than
two-lines road. In the case of rivers, i could create an area feature from both
sides lines if the river is wide enough, but when it is narrow,i prefer just one
line and set the line width to an appropiate value.

I know there's no an automatically way to do this with Globalmapper or Mapedit,
but maybe someone knows some procedure to do it...

Thanks for listening...

I know how I would do it - but I have the advantage of being able to program up what I want... What format are the lines in? Is each line a separate line? Or...

Ack! That's worse than I thought! What a mess. The roads don't even have names. There isn't even a 1:1 correspondence between one side of a road and another -...

You could try topofusion. It has a function to average tracklogs. You could import the roads as tracks and then have topofusion average them out....
