On Saturday May 4 the Independence Chapter of the Mars Society will
be doing a display and will set up the Mars terrain with the radio
controlled Rokenbok robots at the New Jersey State Museum in
association with the International Space Station Trailer Exhibit
which NASA is bringing to the museum April 30 through May 9.
I need volunteers to help staff the table and organize the kids (and
the occasional adult!) who want to run the robots. We have a new
supply of Mars Society pencils and a supply of brochures to hand
out. I'll bring our usual tri-fold board display, Mars globe, etc.,
but if you have anything Mars related you would like to add to the
table display please let me know.
We will be located downstairs near the planetarium.
If you think you could assist please email me at gcfisheris@....
Even an hour would help, and you can get into the museum for free and
see the NASA exhibit. I plan to be there at 8:15 am to set up and
then stay from the opening at 9:00 am to the close at 4:45 pm.
Driving directions can be found at:
http://www.state.nj.us/state/museum/visiting/index.html
Below I have reproduce the info from the museum's web site about the
exhibit, and also the special planetarium show about the
International Space Station.
Please join me for the great outreach opportunity.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration's traveling exhibit
about the International Space Station will be on view at the State
Museum for ten days. Housed in two forty-eight foot trailers linked
together in an L-shape, it features short video presentations about
human exploration of space, mock-ups of Space Station experiments
and "try-on" devices used by astronauts who live aboard the
International Space Station. It contains interactive exhibits and an
animatronic astronaut to entertain and educate visitors walking
through the exhibit.
