San Diego Mayor declares February 2 - 8th "Mars Society Week"

The official proclamation from the Mayor's office designating Feb.
2 - 8 as Mars Society Week in San Diego has been released. Here's
part of what the proclamation says...

WHEREAS, from February 2 through February 8, 2003, the San
Diego chapter of the Mars Society will participate in a scientific
experiment dubbed the MARS Desert Research Station that tests
operations necessary for a manned mission to Mars;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DICK MURPHY, the Thirty-third Mayor of the
City of San Diego, do hereby proclaim February 2 - 8, 2003, to be
"MARS SOCIETY WEEK" in recognition of its contribution to the
future of planetary exploration.
