Zubrin lecture, PA Mars Society meeting   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #438 of 509 |

Hello everyone,

I would like to remind you all about next Saturday, March 1.  Dr. Robert Zubrin, President of the Intl. Mars Society will be speaking as the final lecturer in the Lectures on the Frontiers of Science, sponsored by the Penn State Eberly College of Science.  He will be speaking at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 1, in 100 Thomas Building on the Penn StateUniversity Park campus.  Directions to campus, and campus maps can be found at: http://www.psu.edu/ur/visitors.html.  The Penn State Chapter will be manning an information booth at the lecture, as we have for the previous lectures.

The lecture will run until around 12:30.  At 2:00 pm there will be a meeting for the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Mars Society.  Dr. Zubrin will be stopping by to meet with us, so this is a great opportunity to meet him.  I highly encourage everyone from all of the chapters in PA (Philly and Pittsburgh) to attend this meeting as well.  The Penn State Chapter will be showing a demo of their exciting project which involves a new control system for an astronaut to control a research rover while on EVA.  In addition, we will be working on outreach-related projects.  This includes making general outreach material, as well as organizing political outreach efforts.

The meeting for the PA Chapters will be held in room 104 Thomas Building at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 1.

Also, there is still the issue of a lack of a chapter contact for the Pittsburgh Chapter.  Until we find someone, I will be filling in at that role.  If anyone is interested in this position, please contact me.  It is not a very large responsibility, but can be a very exciting position.  Like everything else in life, you will get out of it what you put in.

I look forward to seeing all of you next Saturday.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email me.
