Help make Mars a Great National Goal!   Message List

Hi Mars-Pennsylvania Group & PA Mars Society
Members:

I recently received this message (below) from a M.S.
member from New York. Whatever happens with the
election in November, I know that we are all hoping to
reach our goal of establishing a program of human
exploration on the surface Mars within the next decade
or two. To do this, it is critical to keep the issue
bipartisan (as it has been historically). One of the
ways we can do this is to assure that the Democrats
have a similar goal of reaching Mars as has been
outlined by President Bush. No matter where you stand
politically, you personally have the opportunity to
help get MoveOn.org to promote Humans to Mars as a
“Great Goal” for our nation. Please read on and click
on link below! MoveOn.org has a track record, and if
they can assist in making Mars a priority for Senator
Kerry, we will be closer to Mars regardless of the
election's outcome. The next two months are critical
on many fronts. More later. Thanks!
Sincerely,

Gustave Scheerbaum, P.E.

The massive US grassroots political organization
MoveOn.org is calling for "Great Goals" for the nation
to be articulated and voted on by its membership (see
below). If you click on this link
(http://tinyurl.com/2bd9z) you'll see that MoveOn has
even chosen JFK's 'Moon' quote as the headline for
their “Great Goals” page!

I have drafted a few paragraphs that I believe will
explain to this Progressive mostly Democratic audience
why and how we should adjust Bush's space program and
what NASA's Great Goal should be... let's build on
John Glenn's recent call for a direct to Mars program,
and make the "Great Goal" Humans to Mars by 2020. If
we can muster 10,000s of votes, MoveOn may activate
its millions of members to provide powerful political
support for the goal. The URL is

If you agree with it, please "vote" for it (check
whether you agree or disagree AND rate it (1 to 5
stars))on the MoveOn.org web site and encourage your
space communities to do the same. If you disagree,
please post your own "Great Goal" to MoveOn.org! Let's
put to rest once and for all the fallacy that
Progressives in the United States will not support a
visionary space program. Again, the URL is
