_SCIENCE CLUB FOR GIRLS: BE A MENTOR FOR GIRLS [SCG]

Spring 2008 Program: 2 hrs/wk, 10 wks
www.scienceclubforgirls.org<http://www.scienceclubforgirls.org>
Science Club for Girls (SCG) is a unique afterschool based program that works
with girls in grades K-7, exposing them to the wonders of science in a fun way!
Led by female volunteers, the girls have the chance to be positively influenced
by women who are already in science or studying to have a career in science,
engineering, math or technology. Volunteering requires only 2 hours a week of
your time for 10 weeks in the Spring.
SCG is seeking women (and a few men) to serve as Science Club leaders and help
show young girls that science, math and engineering can be fun. SCG provides an
engaging curriculum, all materials, and snack for you to lead powerfully. SCG
serves in four Cambridge public schools (all T accessible) and has clubs in
Newton, Boston (T accessible), and Lawrence. The clubs begin the last week of
February and end the first week of May.
To apply online, or for more information, visit
www.scienceclubforgirls.org<http://www.scienceclubforgirls.org>. To participate
or for more information, you may also contact Kareen Wilkinson, SCG Program
Manager by email (kwilkinson@...) or by phone(617-549-2442).

Also looking for volunteers who would like to help SCG with their booth
at the AAAS Family Science Day
<http://www.aaas.org/meetings/Annual_Meeting/2008_boston/program/fsd/> on
Feb 16th. If any AWIS women would like to join them then, or other
one-time events later on in the year, please go to the SCG website
