WAGE Project Workshop - WORK$MART

Monday April 28, 2008, 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Evelyn Murphy returns to
Mass-AWIS to conduct a workshop on salary negotiation!

Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research
100 Technology Square
Cambridge, MA 02139

Directions here: http://www.nibr.novartis.com/Downloads/About/directions_to_NIBRI.pdf

Please enter from the Main Street entrance, between the Citibank and the railroad tracks.

We invite your participation in a special workshop called WORK$MART. This workshop, developed and led by Dr. Evelyn Murphy, will focus on salary negotiation skills in the scientific workplace. In recent months, Dr. Murphy, former Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts and author of Getting Even: Why Women Don't Get Paid Like Men and What To Do About It, has conducted workshops on campuses throughout the country for women about to graduate and start their working careers.  At the request of MASS AWIS, she now extends her work to women scientists already working in the field.

This is a highly interactive workshop - not a lecture, nothing theoretical. It emphasizes the mastery of the essential nuts-and-bolts of effective salary negotiation. Come prepared to engage - to "work" at a workshop!   It's critical that every participant arrive on time. Anyone who comes 10-15 minutes late diminishes the quality of her contribution to others. Out of respect for your colleagues and to maximize your own benefits, be prepared to participate for the entire workshop.

Registration for the workshop includes workshop materials and a light dinner.

$20 for MASS AWIS chapter members and $35 for non-members
