Many young scientists have no idea what to do when faced with their first managerial challenges.  Whether you are facing these challenges now, or hope to in the future, come spend a little time with AWIS to work on these crucial areas for success in the science work place!  Refreshments (pizza) will be served during networking time from 6-6:30.
Our distinguished speaker is Dr. Joan Brugge, Chair of the Harvard Medical School Department of Cell Biology. Prior to 1997, she was the Scientific Director of ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Cambridge, MA. From 1989 to 1992, Dr. Brugge was a Professor of Microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. From 1979 to 1988, Dr. Brugge was on the faculty of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, most recently as Professor of Microbiology.  Dr. Brugge has the unique perspective of a woman who has succeed in both industry and academia and we are happy to have an evening to learn from her experiences.
