Join national AWIS and the MASS AWIS
chapter at http://www.awis.org/about/join.html
Make a difference by joining our chapter of the Association for Women in
Science. Whether you come to 1, 2 or 10 events this year--joining
the chapter supports our work towards reaching equity in the school and
workplace for girls and women in science. Joining does not commit
you to any work! Most events are free for members so it is worth
joining now!
CHOOSE REGULAR MEMBERSHIP ($90) OR STUDENT RATES ($35) AT YOUR DISCRETION.
YOU CAN ALSO MAKE AN EXTRA DONATION TO THE CHAPTER TO ENSURE WE
CAN CONTINUE THESE EVENTS IN THE YEARS TO COME! Do it now--we need
you!
The 2007 program calendar is being finalized.
Planned AWIS events include another communication workshop, workshops
on networking and mentoring topics, book reading by Allegra Goodman (National
Book Award winning author most-recently of "Intuition"), Panel
discussion event with Ben Barres and Nancy Hopkins. Watch for emails
for more information or go to www.mass-awis.org
Volunteer once a week to lead a group
of girls from K to 7th grade in exploring the magic of science!
In our continued collaboration with the Science
Club for Girls (SCFG)...we are looking for female scientists to join with
groups of middle school girls to explore fun, hands-on science in free,
after school Clubs.
SCFG focuses on serving a diverse group of
girls from backgrounds most under-represented in the fields of science
and technology. We provide training, supplies, support, and a flexible,
hands-on science curriculum so you can dedicate all of your time to mentoring
the girls. Clubs run Tuesday through Friday once a week for 10 weeks. We
work with five different public schools in Cambridge and ask volunteers
to commit 2 hrs/wk, including prep and planning time. You choose the day
or location that works best for you!
