The Education Cooperative Summer Science Institute for Science Teachers
It is that time of year when The Education Cooperative is beginning to plan for the Summer Science Institute. Last year the speakers from MASS-AWIS were so well received that we are hopeful that more might want to participate. Once again we are looking for people who can open our eyes to what is happening in research. Any and all topics would be welcome. Our goal as always is to provide opportunities to keep a teacher's knowledge up to date and to expose them to the wonders that are taking place. This year the Summer Science Institute will be held during the week of July 9th - 13th. If you can give a small amount of your time contact Barbara Champney Professional Development Coordinator The Education Cooperative www.tec-coop.org
MEET THE NEXT GENERATION OF MASSACHUSETTS SCIENTISTS--Science Fair Judges Needed!
The Massachusetts State Science & Engineering Fair (MSSEF) brings together over 500 senior high and middle school students
at two statewide fairs each spring. Over 300 qualified judges are required to adequately evaluate the work these students have
done (some of them putting in almost 1,000 hours of research) over the past year.
I want to personally invite you to consider serving on the distinguished judging panels of the 2007 MSSEF statewide
science and engineering fairs. If you have a four-year college degree and work in an area of science, you are invited to
register online. Project categories include: Behavioral Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computers, Earth & Space
Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Physics & Electrical Science.
Today’s practicing science professionals are essential in helping to ensure the there will be a scientifically literate society
complete with talented scientists, engineers and medical professionals for tomorrow. Volunteering at one or both of the
Massachusetts Science Fairs, and/or within the extended system, is an example of that commitment.
You can make a difference. Just a few hours of your time will help to encourage these young people in their quest for science
excellence. It’s easy to register online at http://judgeaccess.massscifair.org. YOUR ACCESS CODE is: atmit. You will be
asked to accept our security Certificate.
