You won't corrupt them as along as you don't mess with any ext files like the
vti files... just do what your doing with the file manager with the graphic
file...
I've some tips anout tripod on this page

mainly make sure you have recalculated hyperlinks .. and open the site live and
do it there once a week too... also pull the graphic in slightly and then press
the resample button on your picture menu .... it will reduce the size of teh
graphic ... fp will ask you to save it again .. and you need to do that.. close
page and always recalculate hyperlinks before publising....
