I use Frontpage 2000 to pubblish a site on our intranet.
The path to the serve is set up as a network drive.
The wrapper/template of my pages stays the same, but the content changes.
I have used the include page feature to create wrappers for my data.
I then just put new data files in the directory named the same as the old
data file.
What I would expect, is that Frontpage sees that the data file has changed
and then publishes it. The wrapper page then "includes" the newly
published page when you open it in a web browser.
This is not the case. I have to open each wrapper and let it read the
data file, then save it and then it will publish both the wrapper and the
data.
The problem with this is that some of the data is quite huge and Frontpage
takes forever, well sometimes hours, to save a single file.
Does anyone have a suggestion of either,
a) how to achieve what I need in a different more efficient way
or
b) how to speed Frontpage up on the saving.
This has become a critical issue for me since it takes me way too long to
get the data published and people depend on up-to-date information.
