Thanks Neil, I fixed that first link, getting a bit more organized as I go.
Here are some more goods.
See Mattel Aquarius Ascii characters in their true-ish 8 bit glory

http://www.residenteasel.com/aquarius/mattelaquariusascii8bit.zip
Mattel Aquarius Ascii at 128 x 128 pixels
http://www.residenteasel.com/aquarius/mattelaquariusascii128bit/
128x128aquariusascii.html
http://www.residenteasel.com/aquarius/mattelaquariusascii128bit.zip
Mattel Aquarius Ascii at 256 x 256 pixels
oops forgot the html for 256, but here's the download
http://www.residenteasel.com/aquarius/mattelaquariusascii256bit.zip
Each download contains html files that resize the characters.
I stopped at 32 pixels on the 8 bit, it gets ugly.
Over the years I've tried to extract the fonts only to end up with all sorts of
headaches
in photoshop, aligning things. I am an idiot. I could have made the whole thing
by hand with an 8 x 8 grid of squares at infnite vector resolution. DUH! Maybe
next
time I get nostalgic
So why make the ascii code anyway?
I've always wanted to use it as an example of simple game making.
From these 8 x 8 blocks I hope to make a sensible 3D map editor,
and while I'm at it maybe I'll make a cross platform Aquarius III.
I don't own any Aquarius gear and i have to emulate Virtual Aquarius by
emulating
windows on mac os x through Crossover.
It would be cool if Virtual Aquarius was cross platform and more extensible.
Perhaps way to turn all those cassettes into Roms and make the thing drag and
drop
savvy?
Quicktype by the way, and paste wow...super awesome. Awesome work James!
I would buy the Aquarius manuals if anyone who is stockpiling this stuff would
sell them.
ok some stories and Aquarius BASIC codes to come
