Adobe Consultants will take on all challengers in answering questions
about Flex and LiveCycle. Ask questions about things you don't know,
or try to stump the consultants. Product team members are not
eligible to win any prizes, if we have any.
In this session Rob Adams will showcase Flex Interface Guidelines from
an Adobe XD perspective. Rob has been working on a project to define
these design practices and will introduce a new website focused on
developing better UI with Adobe Flex.
This session will provide further details on running a small business
from an agency perspective. Discussions will include how to acquire
and maintain key talent, remaining up to date on emerging technologies
and market trends as well as understanding client requirements and
developing the best possible creative solutions.
Join the Platform Developer Relations team and share your input about
user groups, Community Experts, technical content, learning resources,
and more. Meet the folks behind our developer content, user groups
and much more. Let us know what you need to be the most productive
developer out there.

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) celebrate student
achievement that reflects the powerful convergence of technology and
creative arts. Winners represent work by some of the most talented and
promising student graphic designers, photographers, illustrators,
animators, digital filmmakers, and computer artists from the world's
top institutions of higher education. This BOF session provides a
forum for discussing and understanding the ADAA winning work, and to
meet the authors.
This session will be a free form discussion on Flex Components with
members of the community and the Flex Engineering team. Come with
questions regarding best practices, extending components, and general
wiz bang componentry.
Stop in for a behind-the-scenes look at how adobe.com is designed,
architected, built and maintained. Take part in an informal discussion
regarding the creation of web applications, ecommerce and content, and
have the opportunity to give us your feedback regarding site areas you
use, content you'd like to see added, and changes you'd make if you
were in charge.
The XD Team at Adobe has a simple goal: To design and develop elegant,
sophisticated tools and applications that allow you to make and build
better stuff.
Come meet the team, see our influences, and hear what inspires us.
Then tell us what inspires you. It's an opportunity to meet some of
the best UE professionals in the country and likewise, for us to get
to know you better, too! Hope to see you there.
BOF - ColdFusion Developer Hiring 101: A perspective from both sides
of the desk
What do you need to know as a interviewer? What questions should you
ask? How can you separate buzzwords from actual knowledge? As a
candidate, how can you make a great first impression? How do you
answer interview questions? How can you convey your knowledge to an
interviewer in such a short period of time?
LiveCycle - What is it and why do I need it:
As I have been speaking at clients about LiveCycle, the number one
question I get is, what does it do? More importantly, what product
does what? Most people understand PDF generation, but ES is so much
more than that. This would be a freeform session that starts with
product descriptions and a demo, and finishes wherever attendees take it.
Here at Wharton's Learning Lab, we develop lot of simulations and
competitive games. Much of this is to try to stay current with the
ways that college students prefer to learn nowadays. The trend is
that fewer and fewer have the patience to sit through lecture after
lecture. As a result, there's a whole wave of "experiential learning"
applications that are being developed in many different schools.
Adobe's tools make this much easier, even for smaller schools and
departments. I'd like to propose a BOF session for the people doing
this work to get together and chat.
I think this would be an interesting session for anyone who works in
education. It would be particularly relevant for people directly
connected to teaching or corporate training. I think we might even be
able to arrange for a couple of schools to demo what they've already
done, which could kick off discussion of other possibilities.
Thanks!

Everyone that I know that uses a recent version of ColdFusion loves
it, but there are a lot of non-CF developers and IT managers out there
that still seem to have a CF5 procedural perception of ColdFusion, and
CF's (or developers that use it) reputation for producing bad code.
It's always been frustrating to me to see articles like the infamous
ComputerWorld article earlier this year that are so completely out of
touch with the ColdFusion reality:
http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleI\
d=9020942&pageNumber=1
I think with the release of CF8, perceptions will change for those who
bother to pay attention, but I fear that, without a marketing budget
that helps to get the word out, this outmoded perception will
continue.
This BOF would discuss the perception and reputation of ColdFusion,
what Adobe could do to increase each of them, and what developers can
do.

The BOF I would like to suggest would focus on CF in the Enterprise.
How do you use it? Intranets? Extranets? Public facing sites? Why
do you use it? If you don't, why not? What kind of resistance do you
face against CF? Where does it come from? How do you deal with it?
Are you successful at fighting the resistance? If you are successfully
using CF in your enterprise, what advice can you give others?
Meet the engineers and product managers in Adobe's Dynamic Media
Organization along with fellow designers and developers delivering
video on the web using Adobe's Flash, Flex, Flash Media Server, Adobe
Media Player, live Flash Media Encoder. Share notes on workflows and

Proposed BOF session to get together and discuss ColdFusion
frameworks--why use one, success stories, horror stories, and where
all the popular CF frameworks are going in the future.
This BOF will be an open discussion on ColdFusion Components.
Everything from basic syntax to the best way to use them. I've run
this BOF over the last few years at MAX and it has always been pretty
interesting.
