Hi Dan,
Printers and special forms are one of the hardest things to troubleshoot. We
spent hours on the phone with Max Tech support to get our printers and forms
working correctly.
Are you using a Novell Print server and the rprinter command or are you
using a directly connected printer to a workstation?
The rprinter command has parameters you need to set for the printer to work
properly. You also need to check the DIP switches on the printer itself.
Did you install the Crystal 6.0 runtime engine from the Max 3.2 update
program. That really fouled up our printing but that's another story.
Roy
I just recently installed the patches up to 15 from 9. I was printing fine
before the patches were installed except for the extra form feed. Now I can
not get the printers to form feed correctly after the job is completed. No
matter what type of printer strings I install on max, the printers don't
seem to respond to them. The ones I am having the most problem with are the
reports I am printing in portrait mode. Is there anyone having the same
problem out there and if so what are some ideas for a fix.
Thanks

Hi Dan,
I'm interested in hearing how your Winframe setup goes. How many stations
are you trying to run remotely? Are you using 56K modems to connect to the
server? We choose to use dedicated T1 and Cisco routers to link our offsite
building. He have about 19 stations in our other building all running Max.
Also what does your config.sys and autoexec.bat look like on your
workstations.
We use a very simple one:
Config.sys
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
DOS=HIGH,UMB
FILES=200
BUFFERS=30
Autoexec.bat
@ECHO OFF
@C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\NAVDX.EXE /Startup
PATH C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE;M:\MAX\EXE;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
PROMPT $p$g
SET TEMP=C:\WINTEMP
SET TMP=C:\WINTEMP
Roy
Is anyone currently running max for windows 3.1 on a Winframe server so that
it can be accessed from a remote site. If there is anyone running this
configuration then you might be able to help me get it set up or point me in
a direction that I need to go. I keep getting a Undefined Dyanlink error
when I try to run the software.

If you are printing to a dot matrix, try using the okidata 292 normal report drivers. They seem to work wonders on almost any type of matrix printer.

We found some issues last week that MAY be causing the problem.
More current version of BTRIEVE is on our system to support another
module. Lower version connected to MAX. Most probably causing the
issues.
Once again thanks to all of you who responded - we may have
found it. I hope I can be of some help to one of you.

Subject: User Group Meeting Minutes
Date: 10/19/98
It was a great meeting we had on 10/14. Thank you Dave Kocharhook for getting
everyone together and also for the Pizza! The first part of the meeting was the
update on the company restructuring, product release and development schedule,
given by Kewill ERP (formally Micro-MRP) representative. In the second part of
the meeting, John Farcich of Microbar led the discussion on how we want to run
the user group meeting in the future.
This memo will summarize the results of the discussion of our future meeting
format. If you would like to obtain an update on the company restructuring and
new software release information, please check the web site or contact your
account manager.
Objectives of the user group
1. Share ideas and learn from each other’s experiences, e.g., how to work around
problems; how to use certain modules/features to best suit your operation; share
crystal reports. We think case studies will be a great way to achieve this.
We felt that it would be valuable to everyone to establish a user profile and an
e-mail group. Thanks to Roy and Lisa of Berger Metal who volunteered to do the
survey. Dave Kocharhook will provide us with the e-mail addresses.
2. Get questions answered and problems resolved with the Technical Support
personnel joining the meeting.
3. Update on product release schedule and new product development plan.
4. Establish a communication channel between the users and Kewill ERP. Give
input on and be able to influence the product development and customer service.
Format of the meeting
1. Frequency - We will hold a user group meeting every two months starting
January 1999. Meeting time will be 9 AM to 1 PM.
2. Location - Although Kewill ERP Foster City location will always be available
for us to hold meetings, we will rotate meeting sites. We will have users to
run and host (if possible) the meetings at their locations – this will be great
for case studies.
3. Meeting Agenda
 Kewill representative presents product development plan and
organization changes, follow up on open issues, give feedback on user
suggestions and inquiries.
 Technical support person addresses common issues and answer questions.
 Discuss, screen and gather questions/inputs to be presented to Kewill
EPR.
 Case Studies given by a user – topics can be selected by modules, by
industries, and computer system set up/support.
Next Meeting
When: January 1999, date to be determined
Where: Microbar in Sunnyvale
Who: John Farcich of Microbar will host the meeting and present a case study
Agenda: Product development review – Kewill ERP
How the user group in the East coast run their meetings - Kewill ERP
Survey review – Roy and Lisa of Berger Metal
Technical support answers questions – Kewill ERP (??)
Open discussion on any issues
Module discussion: BOM and SFC – John Farcich
Next meeting
As we get closer to January, you will be informed of the meeting date and time,
along with a detailed agenda. Please contact the following steering committee

3) What is the sessions parameter set to in your Btrieve setup.
4) What version of Btrieve are you up to (patch level)
Suggestion: you better find out what a Btrieve engine is if you want to get along with MAX and Dynamics. Read the Docs that came with the software.

Ross,
Are they server based errors or workstation errors? We had to install the
latest patches for the Btrieve engine on the server then tweek the settings
on the server engine to get it to run clean. If you have other software
that uses Betrieve,like Arcserve for instanse, you can run into problems.
Are there other servers on your network?

Hello All,
I’m working on compiling a survey of companies that use Kewill’s Max ERP
software. If you could forward me your company web site address that would be a
nice start. I would like to add your link to our Max User web page for
everybody to see.
We haven't forgot. Lisa and I are working on the survey that we will email out
shortly.
Also the Max User Egroup web page has been updated to include a calendar
feature. The calendar is simple and very handy for posting events. Check it
out.

The email part is good but if you have a chance to visit the website please do
so.There are a lot of features which we can use.
I like the polling feature which allows users to input questions and the other
users can cast votes after the system performs the count and provides stats.
We also have a folder feature which allows users to tag websites and other kinds
of computer files for all to see and read. I started a folder on Max user
websites. Anybody can make folders I believe.
There is also a search tool so you can search and arrange messages.
Try it out.
Roy, thanks for putting this together so quickly. This Egroups system works
great!
