Collins,
Thank you for your fantastic updates.
Today I spoke with Dennis Kimambo +254722388275 and Kennedy Owino
+254723568251.
Kennedy is in touch with Samwel Kongere. He asked that I send 7,000 ksh
for Samwel and so I will send Kennedy $200 today and he will send the
needed amounts of cash through a Kenyan service for that. The rest is
for Kennedy to use for video work or as needed. I also sent Kennedy
$144 on Saturday and he will send this to Samwel.
I also have sent $185 through Mamamikes.com for (10,000 ksh=$150) of
airtime to Dennis Kimambo for the Pyramid of Peace and $45 to Achami in
Kuresoi.
On Saturday I also sent $161 to Josephat Ndibalema of Uyoga in
Tanzania. We should discuss how best to use this, but I am happy with
your help. I sent $100 to Fred Kayiwa in Uganda so that he might help
Sasha and me and all of us move content to our wiki and alert bloggers
and the media. I will also speak with Sasha if he might work full time
for our lab instead of part time for this month. And I plan to send
$100 to Kiyavilo, we should discuss how to use this. Please consult
with us before you spend this money. I'm very happy how everybody
participated at our chat yesterday.
Thank you to Pamela McLean for your concern and for contributing along
with me. I'm accepting donations for the Pyramid of Peace to send out
cellphone airtime to those who publicly embrace the other tribes. Our
website is http://www.pyramidofpeace.net and you can click on the PayPal
link at the top of that page or send by PayPal to me at ms@...
Kenya is calm overall for now, but there are fighters in hotspots such
as Kuresoi and Burnt Forest who peacemakers are engaging with help from
our Pyramid of Peace. We feel the fragility that was there before, that
will be there for some time, and that is exacerbated by the lack of
statesmanship by President Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga. The
demonstrations planned by the Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement
are designed to topple or pressure the government rather than to build
up the peace.
I spoke with Dennis Kimambo and Kennedy Owino. My thought is that for
the next month we will find a steady way to make progress organizing
those "independent thinkers" in Kenya who don't insist on either side
but care first for "Humanity before Politics". The absolute urgency is
transforming into a steady effort that we can support and unite in with
others. Activities for us include:
* Continue building our Pyramid of Peace to embrace those from other
tribes and dialogue for peace.
* Through the Pyramid of Peace, address needs, collect nominations for
an independent commission to review the election results, encourage
people to "demonstrate at home" as with the "white cloak" campaign, and
share the news and views of those who choose to participate, along with
their telephone numbers so that others may call them or send them airtime.
* Encourage Kenyans helping Kenyans, and advertise in Kenyan newspapers
the Pyramid of Peace along with countless names, location and phone
numbers, so that people may call them.
* Support Tanzanians (Uyoga!) and Ugandans (Fred, Davis!) who are
helping Kenyans.
* Organize our online system so that we're effective at publishing
reports from on-the-ground and bringing them to the attention of
bloggers, media and those who can help.
* Document the flow of money through our Pyramid of Peace and make that
easy to access using a diagram.
* Organize small projects (typically $100) for independent thinkers
on-the-ground to research questions (about solar panels, distance
learning, community currency, pandemic response,...) that would yield
useful answers and foster useful skills.
* Raise larger sums of money for distribution through the Pyramid of Peace.
We will keep our work humming but I think we can be sure to catch up on
our rest and to discover how to live with this situation in the longer term.
Thank you all for contributing with your energy, ideas, fellowship and love!
Andrius
