In the Kenyan presidential election, Raila Odinga (of the lowly Lou
tribe) was set to defeat incumbent president Mwai Kibaki (of the
privileged Kikuyu tribe), but the counting dragged on. The incumbent
was declared the winner and sworn in within the hour with no recount.
In Eldoret, the enraged youths of the Kalenjin tribe burned down a
church with at least 30 Kikuyus inside. In all, 300 people of all
tribes died in ethnic cleansing that whiffed of a Rwandan genocide.
After a few days, people came to their senses, but many are without food
or cash or transportation. The shortages may precipitate violence,
chaos, genocide.
The transportation is hindered by murderous Kalenjin militias and their
road blocks.
The quickest way to overcome the road blocks is to send cash ($1,000 to
$10,000) to benevolent Kalenjins who distribute it to the Kalenjins in
need. This will extinguish the resolve of the militias.
We know of benevolent Kalenjins:

Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir is harboring 9,000 Kikuyus in Eldoret's
cathedral.

Monday morning, we would transfer the money by Western Union to places
(such as Nakuru) where the cash can indeed be picked up and used to
purchase mobile phone credits which can then be forwarded to mobile
phones of the benevolents in Eldoret (a cool thing about the Kenya phone
system). They would distribute the credits further through Kalenjin
activists out towards those in greatest need. People could then
exchange phone credits for food and transport, which facilitates
sharing, squashes fear, unleashes initiative and basically puts the
benevolent Kalenjins in charge.
You can PayPal me at ms@...
P.S. I will send at least $100 and you can add more and maybe that's
enough. But if you don't have cash you can still help, you can engage
benevolent Kalenjins at http://www.kalenjin.net and by phone and chase
down their needs, news and phone numbers for us to post on the web.
