Thoughts on the plan?

Asif, thank you for your great help and good ideas.

I spoke with Dennis Kimambo and he's very supportive of my plan to focus
our resources on engaging and befriending the benevolent Kalenjins. The
only reliable way to send funds so far has been through Dennis and
Kennedy. Dennis will be able to take the lead here.

We have at least $2,000 that they will convert to phone credits and
distribute to benevolent Kalenjins. The phone credits are valuable as
currency because:
* They can be easily moved across the country.
* They are in short supply and selling at a premium in many places.
* They can be traded directly for food, medicine, transport with anybody
else who has a phone (or simply needs to make a call).

Trade brings people together. Dennis told me of Maureen who was in
Nauche where they were surrounded by Kalenjins. She sold her phone
along with the credits she received to one of the Kalenjins who then
provided her and several others safe transit out of the region and now
they are safe. So now that's one Kalenjin in the heart of the problem
who is a "friend" who whom we can send phone credits to, I think to
excellent effect.

Here is the outline of my plan. Dennis will organize a team, and
depending on who is available, Samwel, Kennedy and others might organize
subteams. Our "workers" will receive a portion of the funds, say 10% of
the total. They will make calls to people who are Kalenjins or may know
Kalenjins and are willing to have their telephone posted on the Internet
and provide news and report on who needs what help.

If a Kenyan alerts us to a Kalenjin who can help or is in need that we
weren't aware of, then our team member calls that Kalenjin.
If that Kalenjin also agrees to have us post their telephone on the
Internet provide news and report on who needs their help, then we reward
both of them with X phone credits each.

That way we win an ever increasing web of Kalenjins and reward those who
help us engage them, too. And they can keep earning more credits by
helping us report more people. And we keep reaching out to the people
who are more vulnerable. We keep focusing on the people who can help
the most or who are the most vulnerable.

Also please collect emails if they are interested to be in touch that way.

We need to contact the Catholic Bishop or his staff and also those at
the many churches in the Eldoret diocese
http://www.cdekenya.org/directory.htm

The Kalenjins don't have to be in the Eldoret area but I imagine that's
most important and we should focus on the most vulnerable.

What do you think?

Also, if there is somebody who might provide "matching funds" I think I
can raise even more money.

If this action goes well it would be good to get help from bloggers to
get broader attention and encourage more to participate in this.

Also, http://www.mamamikes.com is very important but please let us know
when it works because otherwise I'm holding off on that, it may simply
be "broken".
