In a way yes.
AXN does just that, adds frags/deatgs for certain tasks etc.
Why would you want to do that anyway ?

I wanna program a CS Deathmatch Plugin, everything that i need is possible, but

I'm having a heck of a time find what event is triggered when
someone pickups a Shield.  I though it would be like any other
WeapPickup event.. but no go.. the event is not triggered when they
buy or pickup a shield. I also though maybe you record it as a
Battery event or ArmorType.. but alas neither of those are triggered
either.  Now I did find that when I watch the HideWeapon event I can
see when they switch between hided and un-hide but I still can't
find the event for buying or picking up of the shield.  Can you let
me know which event is triggered when they buy or pick it up rather
a shield in CS 1.6?

AMX has a deathmatch plugin made for it.

I'm not sure what you mean by register it as an event - I haven't
implemented any specific event handling in Metamod.

I'm talking about the events that happen when you do things like
WeapPickup .. and bomb events .. and such... is that not done by
metamod?  When I pick up a shield or buy one it should make an event
happen .. like picking up a gun or something right?

Most likely you probably need to read the instructions of the Half-Life SDK and not request advise for such matters here, but since your question is really CS 1.6 specific, i would drop the question on the forums at http://www.steampowered.com.
Maybe contacting the developers through their general mail address is better as i have the idea that the forums are mostly answered by users and only read for bug-references by developers.

Hi!
 
I am programming a MetaMod tool called ZMCBanTool, which sits on the ClientConnect Hook and waits for an player connecting.
As soon someone connects, the program starts a MySQL select on a table for the AUTHID (WonID) of that player. If that player is in the table, then the player get banned.
 
I have solved nearly all problems with it now, only one is left:
-) STEAM and/or DoD Retail User
Everytime a DoD Retail or STEAM User connects to the server, the routine GETPLAYERAUTHID only results in a "VALVE_ID_LAN". As far as I can find out with the help of the logs, AFTER the routine ClientConnect has ended, such kind of user will be authenticated and the routine GETPLAYERAUTHID will result in a proper value.
Following question arise now:
-) Is there a hook for the STEAM Authenticate Routine in MetaMod, so I can sit not only on the ClientConnect but also on the Valve Steam Authentice routine?
-) Do I have to use some other routine as GETPLAYERAUTHID to get a proper ID string?
-) Am I on the wrong hook, and should move my program somewhere else? (But I only want to check the users once per connect and that right at the beginning of the connection (see my first topic "Info for banned User")

There's nothing special in Metamod specifically for Steam; the more
appropriate question might be, "is there a hook for STEAM in the HL API?"
That question is better asked in some of the Half-Life programming forums.
Generally speaking, the same could be said for the other questions as well.

I'm having a strange problem and after 8 hours decided I need some
help.

I have MetaMod 1.16 installed and am trying to get either AdminMod
or AMX to run based on how I run the start script

Here's how I call it--
./hlds_run -game cstrike -port 27016 +localinfo mm_pluginsfile
cstrike/addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini +ip 69.59.147.225
+servercfgfile server27016.cfg +logsdir logs27016 +mapcyclefile
mapcycle27016.txt +motdfile motd27016.txt +map cs_assault
+maxplayers 16 +localinfo mm_debug 7

My plugins_amx.ini--
linux addons/amx/dlls/amx_mm_i386.so
linux addons/amx/dlls/csstats_ms_i386.so
linux addons/amx/dlls/fun_ms_i386.so

I don't currently have a plugins.ini in the metamods dir.

With the above it will NOT run AMX---here's my output
meta list
Currently loaded plugins:
       description      stat pend  file              vers      src
load  unlod
0 plugins, 0 running
localinfo
Local info settings:
mm_pluginsfile      cstrike/addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini
mm_debug            7

However....if I copy my plugins_amx.ini to plugins.ini in the same

Per the docs on the webpage:

    Current localinfo fields recognized by Metamod:

	   mm_pluginsfile - Specifies a file that lists the Metamod plugins
			    to load, instead of using the file plugins.ini.
			    The <value> should be the pathname of the
			    plugins file, relative to the gamedir.

Note that the pathname must be "relative to the gamedir".  That is, the
specified path is _appended_ to the gamedir.  In your case, the gamedir is
"cstrike", and thus when you specify:
    cstrike/addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini

this becomes:
    cstrike/cstrike/addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini

which, of course, doesn't exist.

The appropriate arguments would be:
    +localinfo mm_pluginsfile addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini

Yes, if you rename it to plugins.ini, then you now have the default file,
which gets loaded when it can't find:
    cstrike/cstrike/addons/metamod/plugins_amx.ini

Oh, thank God.  I thought gamedir referred to /usr/local/games/hlds_l
since I've seen the cstrike/tfc/dod dirs regarded as moddirs.  THANK
YOU MUCH!  You're awesome.  Was there a hint that it wasn't finding
my specified file that I missed?  Again, thanks much.

This may not be the correct place to ask this question, but here goes.
 
I am building a CS Plugin to work with Metamod.
How do you kick someone using your dll?
I have tried using the pfnServerCommand in a line like this
    pfnServerCommand("kick # 2");
 like you would to exec a cfg file.  Nothing happened.
 
I also tried the pfnClientDisconnect function.  I get the message that the player is leaving, but the player is still there.
 
 
Does anyone know how I would do this?
 
If this is not the right place to ask this question, does anyone know a more appropriate place?

Just purchased and installed two Counter-Strike packages (Half-Life
Generations) and patched them.
We're trying to set one machine up as a server but get the following
message:

FATAL Error (Shutting down): Host Error: Couldn't get DLL API frome
D:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\valve\dlls\hl.dll!

The dll is there.
I've tried a reistall with the same results.
Both machines are running WinXP Pro also.

It does not say that it can't find the DLL, it can't get (full) API from it.
It sounds like some function in hl.dll that is not compatible with what
you want or the mod-add-on you installed to play.
If you installed a plugin that requires metamod, i would suggest you to
adjust the reference in the liblist.gam pointing out to metamod.dll,
however hl.dll in the valve-folder is not the one called for
counter-strike...

I just checked with with the latest version of dedicated server
(7.30.03) and the latest version of Metamod (8.02.03 V1.16.2) it
still crashes =O(
Could anybody have a look at this issue ?

Hi, all. I have been playing Half-Life for quite some time and I just
recently stumbled upon Metamod and how to run a Half-Life server with
it. I was amazed at all the things one can do (judging from the
plugins I have seen on other servers) and was always curious as to
how to make a simple Metamod plugin; I admire those guys who know how
to make them, because the detail that some plugins use make them seem
quite difficult to develop.

I do not have much of a programming background, the only exception is
about a month's worth of Python reading and basic knowledge of
variables and functions. I am wondering, however, if it is still
possible to learn how to make Metamod plugins with the minor grasp
that I have in C++.

I was thinking of a project to start off with that just prints out
text on the screen in white. Kind of like the text that shows up on
the screen when you first start Half-Life singleplayer, where it
shows the names of the developers and such.

I have searched for tutorials but from the results none seem to
tailor just to Metamod and making plugins for Metamod. For example, I
am not sure how to setup VC++ and Metamod to start making the project
that I mentioned above.

I appreciate all the reads and help and thank you in advanced. I'll
keep searching and reading for more information.

I was in the same situation as U are now. I've found a Project Starting
Kid called "MM_Base". U can download it via:
http://them.clanwho.com/downloads/MM_Base.zip
In this base U get a VS C++ Project and a lot of readme, how to setup Ur
code. Well, it does not provide an wide info scale for how to actualy
CODE the plugin then. But for this I would advise, visit the metamod.org
site and look at the available plugins and get the sources of them to
study, how to do so. I did it, and it worked well.
