I want to echo that. Seems to me that we spend altoghether too much time
thinking about technical solutions without ever stopping to think about what
we are doing at a higher level, so thanks for the thoughtful and informed
input.
What you said about us currently pushing up what you called the R/V curve
reminds me of an issue which was current in the ceramics industry/craft
movement when I joined it some years ago. This was the value of human made
against machine made. In this one we seem to have come a full circle and
achieved some kind of ballance in the process. Now, in general, the value of
things made by hand, in spite of the inherent ineficiency of it and the
inevitable imperfections is recognised, the very best is generally 'hand
made'. Machine made also has it's place and it's price (cheaper) the two are
complementary.
I wonder if a similar situation will develop in the area of decision making.
You can have a machine decision for one situation and one price or a human
one for another. That way you can get what you want cheap if you can
manipulate the system, same as now, or you can get what you want if you can
pay for it, same as now.

Hi Kurt,
Glad you opened up the list so there's a chance to say : thanks for
Metaphorical, keep it coming!
Of course the tech stuff is interesting, but I very much enjoy the musing
and human angle too.
Cheers,
Danny (39 1/2).
