Here's a link that may be of interest to you. There are meteorological positions which may still be available or coming up in the future.
I noticed one of your interests was in stratosphere/troposphere interaction. Antarctica is a very good place for this type of study. In fact the weather station at McMurdo has had an ongoing study of this for several years now and probably continues to this day.
If you should go there on a grant the possibilities of unlimited. So much yet to be studied. My particular area of study there during a 2 year period was in satellite analysis and its relationship to forecasting. I would urge anyone who has a passion for meteorology and a sense of adventure to take any opportunity to go there and take advantage of all the possible avenues of research.
I myself would be there now, but these old bones are starting to creak. Any research I now do is at my home computer and assisting local emergency services in my community. Also spent a few years tracking, forecasting, and studying typhoons over your part of the world. Horrible the disasters they are capable of on human life.
Sincerely,
Earl Newberger
