Can anyone explain this?   Message List

I was wondering if anyone could explain why a tree that has been struck
by lightning will not burn. We had a cookout the other night and had a
piece of a tree that had fallen from being struck by lightning on the fire,
but it didn't burn the whole night. One of the people that was there with
us said he had observed the same thing before, and had always been told that
this would happen. I saw for myself that night. I have one idea of why
this may happen that doesn't exactly make sense to me, so I wanted to see if
anyone else could explain why this happens. Thanks in advance.
Matthew
