According to various news reports, for example
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WEATHER/03/27/hurricane.brazil/
a few days ago there was the first known South Atlantic hurricane
since weather satellites began. It has been named Catarina, since it
affected Santa Catarina state in Brazil.
Is this report genuine? I tend to act wary of any unusual event
reports near April Fools Day.
In all the time since Europeans came to the coast of Brazil, what
reports have there been from there of bad coastal storms that might
have been hurricanes?
