Auckland report for Met Society.
11 attended our last meeting at NIWA's Auckland office on Thursday 11
Oct. It was encouraging to see a few new faces. Grorgina Griffiths
spoke about Climatic Prediction, giving a general overview of the
current tools used and products produced. Things have come a long way
in the state of art of seasonal prediction, and a lot of effort now
goes into presenting the data that is available in as useful a way as
possible. The current philosophy is to look at the output from
various models and then tweak them subjectively until there is
consensus from a wide group. The next step in this field is to be
some form of objective verification technique.
No further meetings are planned this year, but we intend to start
2002 off with a get-together and BBQ. IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL
REQUESTS FOR MEETINGS PLEASE SEND THEM TO
