Ice Castles is a 1978 American romantic drama, starring Lynn-Holly Johnson and Robby Benson.

It is the story of Alexis, a young figure skater, and her rise and fall from super stardom. Tragedy strikes when, following a freak accident, Lexie loses her sight, leaving her to hide away in the privacy of her own despair. She eventually perseveres and begins competing in figure skating again.

The work was filmed on location in Colorado and Minnesota. It made famous Melissa Manchester's hit song, "Through the Eyes of Love."

Through the eyes of love

Please don't let this feeling end
It's everything I am
everything I want to be.
I can see what's mine now,
finding out what's true since
I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

And now, I can take the time
I can see my life
As it comes up shining now
Reaching out to touch you
I can feel so much
Since I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

And now I do believe
that even in the storm
we'll find some light
Knowing you're beside me
I'm all right.

Please don't let this feeling end
It might not come again
and I want to remember
How it feels to touch you
how I feel so much
since I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

Excellent!!

The Goo Goo Dolls is an alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac.

The Goo Goo Dolls initially consisted of John Rzeznik (vocals, guitar), Robby Takac (vocals, bass guitar) and George Tutuska (drums). While Takac and Tutuska had been long-time friends in school, Rzeznik was playing in the band The Beaumonts, with Takac’s cousin. The three founded the band under the name Sex Maggots. However, when a club owner booked the band, he requested they change the name, as the local newspaper could not print their current name. The trio picked the current name out of a True Detective newspaper ad for a toy called a Goo Goo Doll. With Takac as their lead singer, the band released their first album, Goo Goo Dolls in 1986 on Mercenary Records, but was picked up in 1987 by Celluloid Records, a larger record company. The band released its second album, Jed, in 1989 after moving to Los Angeles.

The band's third album, Hold Me Up, was released in 1990 and featured Rzeznik as the lead vocalist on five tracks, including the single "There You Are" as well as the current concert favourite Two Days in February. Despite being earlier dismissed as having too similar a sound to The Replacements, as well as being embraced by local college radio and punk scenes, (playing such venues as CBGB) the Goo Goo Dolls' third release had incorporated elements of heavy metal, pop rock, and punk. In 1991, the song "I'm Awake Now" was recorded for the soundtrack of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, the video for which featured a cameo of Robert Englund in character as Freddy Krueger and was played on the major video channels at the time.

Superstar Car Wash was released in 1993 to significant media attention. The critical success and encouraging sales of the last album resulted in a larger budget from Metal Blade Records. The album was partially recorded in Metalworks Studio in Mississauga, Ontario, which is where Rush had produced multi-platinum albums. The single "We Are the Normal", which Rzeznik wrote with Replacements' frontman Paul Westerberg, received a major push toward college and independent radio, while its video was displayed on MTV's 120 Minutes program. "Fallin' Down" made it onto the soundtrack of Pauly Shore's hit film Son in Law.

Shortly after recording the band's fifth album A Boy Named Goo, George Tutuska was asked to leave the band after Rzeznik quit because he couldn't be in the same room with Tutuska. This was due to Tutuska claiming that he deserved a share of the royalties for contributing to the songwriting in the song "Fallin' Down", which Rzeznik was receiving monthly checks for. Takac asked Tutuska to leave and Rzeznik to come back. The band moved forward from this December 31, 1994 incident. The band hired Mike Malinin and toured rigorously.

A Boy Named Goo sold modestly in this time, however it was not until the release of the single "Name" that the band experienced any commercial success. A Boy Named Goo became the first album in Metal Blade history to achieve double-platinum status. The success, however, was bittersweet, as the band found themselves in a legal battle with Metal Blade records. The band filed suit against Metal Blade, claiming they had not earned any royalties from their album’s sales, which was attributed to a "grossly unfair, one-sided and unenforceable contract" which had been signed by the band in 1987. The two sides reached a settlement which had the band signed to the company’s parent company, Warner Bros. Records, under which the band released their sixth album, Dizzy Up the Girl, in 1998. The undisputed success of "Name" marked a fundamental change in the band’s sound toward a more polished, commercial direction.

Rzeznik was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and the end product was "Iris", which propelled the band to stardom, as it stayed on top of Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts for 18 weeks, and was nominated for three Grammys that year. According to interviews with Rzeznik, he was experiencing serious bouts of writers' block when he was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and, according to Rzeznik, he was on the verge of quitting the band days before he wrote the song that would launch the band to worldwide fame.

"Iris" was included on the triple platinum Dizzy Up the Girl, and was among Top-Ten hits "Slide", "Black Balloon", "Broadway", and "Dizzy" from the same album. The new, polished sound garnered legions of new fans, many of whom had not followed the band before their mainstream success. Most of the Goo Goo Dolls concerts feature few, if any, songs the band wrote before 1995, reflecting the band’s more mainstream sound. Although the lyrics to "Black Balloon" are vague and unclear, as this is an essential aspect of Rzeznik's style of writing, the song, according to the lead-singer himself, regards drug abuse and the emotional consequences of indulging in them. It is widely believed that the song was written for Robby Takac's wife who was once caught up in drug abuse but who has fully recovered today; both refuse to state who the song is written for or about. In 2001, the Goos released their first ever compilation CD, What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce. Next, Gutterflower (2002)—with dark lyrical undertones from Rzeznik's divorce—achieved gold certification, producing the hits "Here Is Gone", "Sympathy", and "Big Machine". On July 4, 2004, the band performed a free concert in their hometown of Buffalo, continuing through a deluge of rain that can be seen on the DVD released later that year. The DVD also contained a studio version of the Goo Goo Dolls' cover of "Give a Little Bit" by Supertramp. The single reached the top of the Adult Top 40 chart in 2005.

In 2006, The Goo Goo Dolls marked their 20th anniversary with their new album Let Love In, which included the studio recording of "Give a Little Bit" as well as other top 10 radio singles "Better Days," "Stay With You," and "Let Love In". With their third consecutive single ("Let Love In") from the album, the Goo Goo Dolls hit a record 12 Top 10 hits in Adult Top 40 history, beating Matchbox Twenty and Sheryl Crow. The Goo Goo Dolls plan to release another single from Let Love In, "Without You Here", as well as a song from the July 2007 Transformers movie called "Before It's Too Late", originally titled "Fiction". To promote the new single, the Goo Goo Dolls performed "Before It's Too Late" at both The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on June 8, 2007, and again at The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on June 22, 2007. In July 2007 the band discussed their career as a whole and gave a live performance on A&E's Private Sessions. Rzeznik has stated that after the release of "Without You Here" and their summer tour with Lifehouse and Colbie Caillat, the band will return to the studio to begin work on their next album, their ninth overall.

April 13, 1996 and July 4, 2004 were proclaimed "Goo Goo Dolls Day" in their hometown of Buffalo, New York.

On June 27th 2007 - the GGD performed to a sold-out crowd at Red Rock Ampitheatre in Colorado. The performance premiered on HDNet in high definition (and 5.1 audio) Sunday September 30th at 9pm.

On November 13th, 2007, the band released a greatest hits album entitled Greatest Hits Volume One: The Singles and have plans to release a "career retrospective collection" in the near future. The new greatest hits album includes a new version of "Name" and a remix of "Feel The Silence" by Michael Brauer.  The band performed "Better Days" and "Stay With You," at halftime of the Detroit Lions' 2007 Thanksgiving day game at Ford Field. The halftime show focused on the United Way and NFL's commitment to youth health and fitness.

Their 2nd Greatest Hits CD filled with B-Sides, Rarities, and a live performance DVD is scheduled to be released sometime during the first quarter of 2008.

Also; on their official website under the tour section, they have officially announced recording sessions for a new album unrelated to the Greatest Hits Vol. 2. It reads: "The boys are headed into the studio to record the new album - we'll keep you posted on any special appearances."

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over

Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

Hi Folks,

Since Dan has seen fit to post my old (and not very good) version of the theme from "Ice Castles," I felt obliged to share an updated version I recently sequenced, which has not been released to the general public, but which I am happy to share, exclusively, with the members of this group.

All I ask is that you please not repost this sequence elsewhere, at least until it has been "freely distributed" to the general public.

Thanks for listening!

Good!!

Charles Hardin Holley (September 7, 1936February 3, 1959), better known as Buddy Holly, was an American singer-songwriter and a pioneer of rock and roll. The change of spelling of "Holley" to "Holly" came about because of an error in a contract he was asked to sign, listing him as Buddy Holly. That spelling was then adopted for his professional career. Although his success lasted only a year and a half before his death in an airplane crash, Holly is described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most influential creative force in early rock & roll." His works and innovations were copied by his contemporaries and later musicians, notably The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and exerted a profound influence on popular music. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Holly #13 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Good!!!

Carole Klein, 9 February 1942, Brooklyn, New York, USA. A proficient pianist from the age of four, King was a prolific songwriter by her early teens. When friend and neighbour Neil Sedaka embarked on his recording career, she followed him into the New York milieu, recording demos, singing back-up and even helping arrange occasional sessions. As a student at Queen's College, New York, she met future partner and husband Gerry Goffin whose lyrical gifts matched King's grasp of melody. She completed a handful of singles, including "The Right Girl" (1958), "Baby Sittin'", "Queen Of The Beach" (1959), prior to recording "Oh Neil" (1960), a riposte to Sedaka's "Oh Carol". Although not a hit, her record impressed publishing magnate Don Kirshner, who signed the Goffin/King team to his Aldon Music empire. They scored notable early success with the Shirelles ("Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow"), Bobby Vee ("Take Good Care Of My Baby") and the Drifters ("Up On The Roof") and were later responsible for much of the early output on Dimension Records, the company's in-house label. The duo wrote, arranged and produced hits for Little Eva ("The Loco-Motion") and the Cookies ("Chains" and "Don't Say Nothin' Bad (About My Baby)") while a song written with Bobby Vee in mind, "It Might As Well Rain Until September", provided King with a solo hit in 1962.

Although this memorable and highly evocative song barely reached the US Top 30, it climbed to number 3 in the UK. However, two follow-up singles fared less well. The Goffin/King oeuvre matured as the 60s progressed, resulting in several sophisticated, personalized compositions, including "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" (Aretha Franklin), "Goin' Back" (Dusty Springfield and the Byrds) and "Pleasant Valley Sunday" (the Monkees). The couple also established the short-lived Tomorrow label, but their disintegrating marriage was chronicled on King's 1967 single, "The Road To Nowhere", the year they dissolved their partnership.
King then moved to Los Angeles and having signed to Lou Adler's Ode label, formed the City with ex-Fugs duo Danny Kortchmar (guitar) and Charles Larkey (bass). (The latter became King's second husband.) The trio's lone album, Now That Everything's Been Said, included the artist's versions of "I Wasn't Born To Follow" and "That Old Sweet Roll (Hi De Ho)", covered, respectively, by the Byrds and Blood, Sweat And Tears. King began a solo career in 1970 with Writer, before fully asserting her independence with Tapestry. This radiant selection contained several of the singer's most incisive compositions, notably "You've Got A Friend", a US number 1 for James Taylor, "It's Too Late", a US chart-topper for King, and "So Far Away".

Unlike many of her former production-line contemporaries, King was able to shrug off teen preoccupations and use her skills to address adult doubts and emotions. Tapestry has now sold in excess of 15 million copies worldwide and established its creator as a major figure in the singer-songwriter movement. However, the delicate balance it struck between perception and self-delusion became blurred on Music and Rhymes And Reasons, which were regarded as relative disappointments.
Each set nonetheless achieved gold disc status, as did Fantasy, Wrap Around Joy (which contained her second US number 1, "Jazzman") and Thoroughbred. The last marked the end of King's tenure at Ode and she has since failed to reap the same commercial success. Her first release of the 80s, Pearls, comprised "classic" Goffin/King songs, a release which many interpreted as an artistic impasse. Certainly King subsequently pursued a less frenetic professional life, largely restricting her live appearances to fund-raising concerns. In the early 90s she had relocated to Ireland. Her recordings also became more measured and if Speeding Time, Colour Of Your Dreams or City Streets lacked the cultural synchronization Tapestry enjoyed with the post-Woodstock audience, her songwriting skills were still in evidence. In the USA, Tapestry exceeded 10 million copies sold in July 1995.

After a number of years keeping a relatively low profile, King released Love Makes The World on her own Rockingale label. This album, probably her finest collection of songs since Tapestry, proves King now has the experience of age and a voice that has grown stronger.

Carole King: It's Too Late

Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time
There's something wrong here, there can be no denying
One of us is changing
Or maybe we just stopped trying

And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it

It used to be so easy living here with you
You were light and breezy and I knew just what to do
Now you look so unhappy and I feel like a fool

And it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died
And I can't hide and I just can't fake it

There'll be good times again for me and you
But we just can't stay together, don't you feel it, too
Still I'm glad for what we had and how I once loved you

But it's too late, baby, now it's too late
Though we really did try to make it
Something inside has died and I can't hide
And I just can't fake it

Most, MOST EXCELLENT!!

"Take Five" is a classic jazz piece first recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet and released on its 1959 album Time Out, although the single itself was released two years later. Composed by Paul Desmond, the group's saxophonist, it became famous for its distinctive, catchy saxophone melody and use of quintuple time, from which the piece got its name. While Take Five was not the first jazz composition to use this meter, it was the first of United States mainstream significance, becoming a hit on the radio at a time when rock music was in fashion. It is also known for the solo by jazz drummer Joe Morello.

Paul Desmond (25 November 1924 - 30 May 1977), born Paul Emil Breitenfeld, was a jazz alto saxophonist and composer born in San Francisco, best known for the work he did in the Dave Brubeck Quartet and for penning that group's greatest hit, "Take Five". Known to have possessed an idiosyncratic wit, he was one of the most popular musicians to come out of the West Coast's "cool jazz" scene.

In addition to his work with Brubeck he led several of his own groups and did significant collaborations with artists such as Gerry Mulligan, Jim Hall and Chet Baker. After years of chain smoking and general poor health, Desmond succumbed to lung cancer in 1977 following one last tour with Brubeck.

He died in 1977, not of his heavy alcohol habit but of lung cancer. Desmond had been a very heavy smoker. Never without his humor, after he was diagnosed with cancer he expressed pleasure at the health of his liver. His last concert was with Brubeck in February 1977, in New York City. His fans didn't know that he was already dying. Desmond specified in his will that all proceeds from "Take Five" would go to the Red Cross following his death. The Paul Desmond Papers are held at the Holt-Atherton Special Collections in the University of the Pacific Library.

Hi Dan,

The version you posted was amongst those I created during the first year, or so, that I started generating MIDI sequences, way back in 1995.

It was so chock full of clinkers, that I removed it from the MIDI Libraries of my site, along with a few others that just weren't listenable, in my opinion.

While going through some piles of old charts, I can across that one, and decided it was time to do an updated version, replacing the trumpet lead with vibes, and thereby making it more suitable for vocalist use.

I plan on re-sequencing a lot of my older files, in the future, in order to bring them up to my current quality standards.

Thanks for listening!

Hi Jack,

My MIDI version of "Avalon" has, indeed, been "freely distributed" to the general public.

Attached is a copy, for your convenience.

Enjoy!

Fair enough, Dan.

I will begin posting my "freely distributed" files to the group this week.

The format will be similar to the way I post them to the alt.binaries.sounds.midi newsgroup, if that's OK.

Of course, I'll limit them to no more than 5 per/day.

Thanks for listening!

Dan and Cat,
MIDI Tool Box does work with my version of Windows XP (which is up to date with all service packs as of today), contrary to the description on the page link below. I have not tried all the features but it displays copyright info and plays midis. GM reset also works.  Maybe when CAT posted it in 2004 there was a compatibility problem, but there doesn't appear to be one now.
By the way, if you check out the "Help" pull down tab and scroll to "About Midi Too Box" you will find the Windows System Info program that will give you a snapshot of your hardware and software.
Regards,
Bob Eldridge

Sorry Bill, I do not.  However, depending on what version of the Mac OS you are using, the newer versions allow you to run Windows XP within the MAC OS.   You might check this these sites:

Excellent!!!

Cirque du Soleil (French for "Circus of the Sun") is an entertainment empire based in Montréal, Québec Canada and founded in Baie-Saint-Paul, Québec in 1984 by two former street performers, Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.
It was an answer to a call by Commissariat général aux célébrations 1534–1984 of the Québec Government for the 450th anniversary celebration of the arrival of French explorer Jacques Cartier (1491–1557) to Canada.
Gauthier, who left the company in 2001, now owns the ski area Le Massif, on the St. Lawrence River (Fleuve Saint-Laurent - on maps) close to Québec City.
Cirque du Soleil is now "guided" by Laliberté.

Cirque du Soleil is a circus like no other: they do not use animals. Every show is different and all have their own original music and performances. They go around the world with their blue-yellow-striped tent (the Grand Chapiteau) performing all different shows. Some shows such as "O" ,standing for eau (water in French) only stay in some location because they need a specific stage.

It has been described as the modern circus ("Cirque Nouveau" / New Circus), and focuses upon a storyline as well as amazing performances. It has several resident and touring troupes and draws heavily from the circus tradition. Emphasizing the use of humans as performers, Cirque du Soleil does not make use of animals. Instead, its performances combine elements of street performances and busking, circus, opera, ballet, and rock music. Acts include contortionists, jugglers, feats of strength, clowning, and trapeze artists. Their costumes are very colorful. Cirque's shows traditionally do not use pre-recorded music; with some exceptions all music is played live, and in many performances the spoken parts are done in Cirquish, an imaginary language invented by the company.

Cirque's shows begin as a creative concept, usually with elements of a central story line, a design concept and the selection of a composer for the music. These elements remain relatively constant throughout the production run of a given show.

However, the shows also include both "house" and "guest" acts. House acts are performed by the full-time cast members, some whom may be involved in several routines. Not all prepared routines are presented in every performance. Guest acts rotate in and out over the run of the show (clowns are typically guest acts). As a result, Cirque's shows can vary somewhat performance to performance, and shows tend to evolve over time. Cirque's creators borrow from some of circus's earliest forms (for example, banquine and teeterboard acts) but also regularly introduce new apparatus. For example, Cirque introduced the use of bungee cords to aerial acts and created a modified tumbling trampoline called a Power Track, both of which have since been adopted by other circuses.

Cirque du Soleil recruits acts from different world circuses, including from China and Russia, blending them into their own style.

Among veteran circus performers, Cirque is regarded as one of the world's best circuses, due to higher than normal pay scales and benefits.

Cirque du Soleil has produced a number of performance DVDs and soundtrack CDs.

The troupe was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2002.

Good!!

Randy VanWarmer (March 30, 1955January 12, 2004) was an American songwriter and guitarist. His biggest success was the pop hit, "Just When I Needed You Most". It reached #8 in the UK Singles Chart and #4 in the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1979. There are several cover versions of this song, including those by Dolly Parton and Smokie.

VanWarmer wrote several songs for the group The Oak Ridge Boys including "I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes." The song appeared on VanWarmer's 1981 album Beat Of Love, which also included VanWarmer's 1980s style pop tune "Suzie Found A Weapon."

He was born Randall Van Wormer, in Indian Hills, Colorado. He grew up in Colorado. Three years after the death of his father in an automobile accident, at the age of fifteen, he moved with his mother to Cornwall, England in 1970. In a 1989 interview with "Release", a now-defunct independent paper run out of Stanford, California, he said he remembered it as a depressing place, economically downtrodden, with long, dark and rainy winters. When he was still a teenager, a girlfriend from the United States came to England, spent several months with him, then returned to the U.S. VanWarmer had been writing songs and playing in South England folk music clubs for a while, and the experience with the American girl ultimately became his one hit song. In VanWarmer's mind, he has said, the song is really about the weather. "It's not hard to write a really sad song in the winter in Cornwall," Release quoted him as saying.

In 1979, after struggling in obscurity for a few years, Bearsville Records in New York released a VanWarmer single, "Gotta Get Out of Here," a mildly catchy pop tune. "Just When I Needed You Most" was the B-side of the single. Somewhere, on a whim, a DJ decided to play the flip side instead, and it slowly rose to the Top 10 in a market saturated with disco. As VanWarmer told Release, Albert Grossman, the head of Bearsville, who was acting as VanWarmer's manager, would not let him do television or tour the United States, a strategy that did not prove successful.

His follow-up album, Terraform, was dark and (compared to his previous work) almost alternative. As Release described the record, it included a song relating the bitter post-death ruminations of a paranoid drowned man; a funny anti-love song; and a lengthy, catchy, metaphorical, almost epic pop piece about the destruction of the Earth and humankind's uncertain attempts to survive. According to Release, Terraform received some airplay on a Manhattan progressive rock radio station, where VanWarmer lived at the time; and it sold moderately in Japan and Australia; but in the United States it sank. Bits of it turned up elsewhere (most notably on Laura Brannigan's debut album), but VanWarmer would later publicly rue his decision to turn away from dreamy ballads. He made two more records at Bearsville - Beat of Love, and Things That You Dream. Beat of Love included the single, "Suzie's Got a Weapon", a tribute to a Bearsville P.R. rep whom VanWarmer would later woo and marry, and which went to #1 in Alaska, and gained a certain amount of post mortem acclaim (for example, a rave by James A. Gardner in his "All Music Guide"). But Grossman died soon thereafter, and VanWarmer's future was in doubt.

According to Release, in the mid 1980s, Suzie VanWarmer mailed a song called "It Never Hurts to Hurt Sometimes" from Beat of Love to a friend at MCA, who sent it to Ron Chancey, the producer of the Oak Ridge Boys. His wife loved it, and she asked the Oaks to record it just for her. They did, and liked it enough to put it on their next album. Eventually it came out as a single, and hit number one on the country charts. Charley Pride recorded a song of his, so did Michael Johnson. Moving to Nashville, VanWarmer saw a recording of his song, "I'm in a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)", also hit number one on the country charts by the group Alabama.

VanWarmer continued to write music for others and for his own recordings, which continued to be artistically successful but commercially unsuccessful. He also helped other younger artists with their own songwriting efforts.

His final album was released posthumously only in Japan and was a tribute to Stephen Foster. It was not only a respectful tribute to a songwriter he clearly admired but was also an unexpectedly innovative and at times witty one-man show (according to the CD's liner notes, VanWarmer played all the instruments). That he completed work on the record a few days after learning of his illness, and that he was destined to die on the anniversary of Foster's death (both according to the CD's liner notes), gave the recording an additional element of depth and poignancy.

He died of leukemia, aged 48. In line with one of his greatest loves, his cremated remains were sent into space in 2007.

Randy Vanwarmer:  Just When I Needed You Most

You packed in the morning I
Stared out the window and I
Struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way

But I miss you more than I
Missed you before and now
Where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me
Just when I needed you most
(Left me, just when I needed you most)

Now most every morning I
Stare out the window and I
Think about where you might be
I've written you letters that I'd like to send
If you would just send one to me

'Cause I need you more than I
Needed before and now
Where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me
Just when I needed you most
(Left me, just when I needed you most)

You packed in the morning I
Stared out the window and I
Struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way

Now I love you more than I
Loved you before and now
Where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me
Just when I needed you most
Oh, yeah
You left me just when I needed you most

<IceCastles1978.jpg>Ice Castles is a 1978 American romantic drama, starring Lynn-Holly Johnson and Robby Benson.

It is the story of Alexis, a young figure skater, and her rise and fall from super stardom. Tragedy strikes when, following a freak accident, Lexie loses her sight, leaving her to hide away in the privacy of her own despair. She eventually perseveres and begins competing in figure skating again.

The work was filmed on location in Colorado and Minnesota. It made famous Melissa Manchester's hit song, "Through the Eyes of Love."

Through the eyes of love

Please don't let this feeling end
It's everything I am
everything I want to be.
I can see what's mine now,
finding out what's true since
I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

And now, I can take the time
I can see my life
As it comes up shining now
Reaching out to touch you
I can feel so much
Since I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

And now I do believe
that even in the storm
we'll find some light
Knowing you're beside me
I'm all right.

Please don't let this feeling end
It might not come again
and I want to remember
How it feels to touch you
how I feel so much
since I found you
looking through the eyes of love.

Excellent!!

The "Theme from A Summer Place" is a song with lyrics by Mack Discant and music by Max Steiner, written for the 1959 movie A Summer Place, which starred Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. It is one of the most well known examples of beautiful music.

The song was a US number-one hit instrumental for Percy Faith in 1960 and was the best-selling single of the year. It reached number two in the UK. Faith re-recorded the song twice; first in 1969 as a female choral version, then in 1976 as a disco version titled "Summer Place 76." Interestingly, Percy Faith's version was not the one in the movie, which was recorded by Hugo Winterhalter.

"Theme from A Summer Place" was also covered by Dick Roman, The Tornados (both in 1962), The Lettermen in 1965 (placing at number sixteen in the Billboard charts) and The Ventures in 1969.

A very impressive jazz version of the song was also recorded by the legendary singer Julie London. It was appeared on her LP called "Our Fair Lady" in 1965. "Theme from A Summer Place" with Julie London was also published on her album called "Best of Julie London" in 2000.

American pop singer Eamon sampled "Theme from A Summer Place" for his 2006 song "Elevator." The melody serves to illustrate the song's exploration of "elevator music" as an aphrodisiac.

This was the first movie theme to win a Grammy Award for Record of the Year (1961). It still stands as the longest-running #1 instrumental hit in the US, running for 9 weeks. It is also the very first instrumental recording to win Record of the Year.

Bob,
This is true.
However, I have XP (Media Ed.) and all sp's up to date. The basic, and vital features do work. You may, however, find a Runtime Error when attempting to delete, rename, or move a file. Other than that, the rest of what you describe is true.
We will look into updating the info. as written in the files area.

By the way, if you check out the "Help" pull down tab and scroll to "About Midi Too Box" you will find the Windows System Info program that will give you a snapshot of your hardware and software.

I also have Media Center XP and I got the same error when I tried to rename a file.  If this feature is of interest to anyone there is freeware available from Crippleware that will change  (example) sinatra - fly me to the moon to Fly Me to the Moon - Sinatra (notice switch and letter case) in one click.  If anyone is interested, let me know.  Same author also has a utility that will find kar files that have the mid extension and gives you the opportunity to change the extension with one click.

Here is another version by Steve Day. It follows (no pun intended) the version recorded by Little Peggy March in 1963 or so.

Sister Act is a 1992 American comedy film released by Touchstone Pictures. Directed by Emile Ardolino, it features musical arrangements by Marc Shaiman and stars Whoopi Goldberg as a Reno lounge singer who has been put under protective custody in a convent, and has to pretend to be a nun in a San Francisco convent when a mob boss puts her on his hit list. Also in the cast are Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Mary Wickes, and Harvey Keitel. The film is #83 on Bravo's The 100 Funniest Movies list.

The film was followed by a 1993 sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. It also inspired a musical stage version that premiered at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California in 2006.

But I'd love to have that Kar finder deal. And go ahead and pack up the Crippleware too. Would like to see it.

Gary,
Thanks for Avalon!
I had a Chet Atkins Instrumental Guitar Version and an old
Al Jolson (Parlor Song) version.
It's amazing how many artists have recorded it and how many styles it
was recorded in over the years!
Thanks again,
