Hello everyone. This has been quite
a year for spring wildflowers. The early burst of warm weather
brought many wildflowers into bloom earlier than usual this year.
And the colder than normal temperatures that followed, prolonged the time
the wildflowers were in bloom. I took this photograph of the Blue
Flag (Iris versicolor) this afternoon in the Newport Wetlands
Area. The name "Flag" is from the middle English
flagge, meaning "rush" or
"reed".
