Discussion and information list for the Society of Mining Professors

The Society of Mining Professors (SOMP) / Societät der Bergbaukunde (SDB) was established in 1990 during the first, foundation, meeting called by Prof. G.B. Fettweis, at the Montanuniversität in Leoben. The Society can be considered as the natural successor of the historic Societät der Bergbaukunde which was the world's first ever international scientific society and was formed in the early 18th century.
