Hi Laura and Jessica: I, too, am interested in some mentoring/trying
to find someone willing to critique my resume. I think that
Jessica's comments are great, and they bring me back to a question I
already posted on this forum: when is UMTIA going to be offering a
sitting for the ATA certification exam? Thanks, D Fergison

would say your credentials will open more doors. If you have not yet
obtained ATA certification I will encourage you to prepare for the
test. It's time and money well invested.

as proof of your abilities. You might be able to volunteer for well
known non profit organizations to build a portfolio. At the same,
time work on writing an impressive resume detailing your education
and qualifications, and send it to as many agencies as you have
energy to send (now you don't even have to spend on stamps!).
Searches on the internet will yield names of translation companies
(local, national and global) to choose from.
