Dear MN Translators,

I came across this opportunity at "www.translatorscafe.com"
today and wanted to share it with every one. For those who need more
online exposure and more potential jobs, it is advised that you sign
up and post your resume at some of the most popular online
translation portals like:
www.translatorscafe.com
www.proz.com
and also some of the less popular (in terms of number of signed
translators and website capabilities):
www.translatorsdirectory.org
www.translatorsbase.com

Good luck and best regards.

====================================================================
"Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is an internationally
renowned website that translates foreign news about the U.S. from all
over the world, to enable Americans to see how they and their
policies are perceived globally. Over its three years of existence,
it has gained mainstream recognition in the U.S. and abroad and has
been talked about, among others, by the BBC, NPR, Foreign Policy
Magazine, The Guardian and The Village Voice. It depends on a team of
volunteers who benefit from the prestige of the project in developing
their careers elsewhere, and who have a passion for the idea of
breaking down the final barrier among peoples of the world - the
language barrier."

If you can read Arabic, Chinese, Farsi or Urdu, and you feel that the
world would benefit from hearing the voice and concerns of your
community or country, then we'd like to hear from you.

Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is currently looking for
volunteers with Arabic, Chinese, Farsi or Urdu language skills to
translate foreign news stories about the United States into English.
You do not need prior translating experience to do this and we can
coach you on accurately translating articles from the foreign press.
However, your English should be good enough that you can write
English in a way that clearly conveys the intended meaning. You would
be working mostly with the managing editors of Watching America and
occasionally with Robin Koerner, the publisher and president of the
site.

While this is a volunteer position, it allows for flexibility in
regards to how much or how little you would like to work, helps build
your resume, comes with an offer of a solid letter of recommendation
from Robin Koerner and gets your name on an internationally acclaimed
website.

How to Apply:
Contact Robin Koerner (robink@...) Please be aware,
however, that the Watching America domain name is sometimes read as
junk mail. If you would like to hear back from us, please make sure
our e-mail addresses aren't filtered as junk.

This job was edited on October 30 at 11:38 GMT by Robin Koerner.
