Dear Mr. Rowehl,

I wanted to invite you to let your MOMO network know about the Living Labs Global Showcase award as we at Living Labs Global are eager to have interesting submissions from the leading mobile innovators in Silicon Valley.

Basically, nine international cities (Barcelona, Chicago, Taipei, Stockholm, among others) put forward their strategic challenges and invite submissions by companies and other cities to submit their solutions. Each Category (City) will have its own Jury, and will invite the winning Showcase for a pilot to their city. Deadline for the Award is the 1st of December, the Shortlist will be published on December 15th and the winners on February 14that an Award Ceremony in Barcelona.

These global cities represent around 12 million citizens from Europe, the US and Asia and call for solutions that can solve some of their most pressing challenges. Challenges include social inclusion, digital tourism, water management, urban service automation, smart living, environmental solutions, citizen participation, healthcare and mobility. Submissions follow the format of the Living Labs Global Showcase, which already today presents more than 230 international service innovations.

I have attached a document that elaborates on the Living Labs Global Showcase Award and its respective timeline.

Should you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or email.

My best,

Liza

    Hi all,

Ecrio is looking for a contract UI designer to help create the mobile phone
equivalent of our MoBeam Key product (www.mobeam.com). Unlike other digital
coupon/barcoding offerings, MoBeam uses a beam of light from the phone's message
notification LED (among other possibilities) to "beam" a barcode into a standard
laser scanner...just like those found at your neighborhood supermarket. We're
already engaged with a major US carrier and a top-level handset maker; in fact,
we've already got the solution working on devices running two different OS's.
Now we need someone to help us turn our "ugly duckling" test client into
something elegant, intuitive and efficient. And we need it fast!

We prefer someone somewhat local to us (we're in Cupertino...just down the
street from Apple), but would consider others with outstanding portfolios. If
you or someone you know is up to the challenge and intrigued by the opportunity,
please contact me at dbeebe @ecrio.com.

    Thanks!
    Dave Beebe
    Director of Product Marketing

    Hello everyone

Well the year's drawing to a close but it doesn't mean we're winding down just yet. In fact, I'd say it's the reverse with Mobile World Congress looming. And not only that, we're proud to announc the Heroes of the Mobile Screen conference that I'm organising.

The Heroes of the Mobile Screen is a new one-day conference which is on 7 December 2009 at the BFI Southbank, London. We have an international speaker line-up including JP Rangaswami, Kevin Banks, Belinda Parmar, Kei Shimada, Julia Shalet, Inma Martinez and Doug Richard, room for 450 delegates from the mobile industry whether you're c-level in a large corporate or an app developer or start-up entrepreneur. The event will also appeal to folks working in media, marketing and web sectors so please think about bringing your clients along to find out about what's happening in mobile without them being blinded by science.

Heroes of the Mobile Screen opens with a keynote from Kei Shimada sharing his experience of what’s happening in Japan and what we can learn from that here in the West. And continues with four core pillars supporting discussion throughout the day.

    The money
What's making money, who's making money and what's being invested in and where the money's going to be in the future? The answers to all the questions we want to ask of successful mobile service providers and VCs.

    The impact of social/location
What is the impact of social media and location technology? What do customers want, what are the business models, what are the solutions to privacy issues. Carriers are placing their bets in this area, but will
    they pay off?

    Teenage heroes
Led by digital youth marketing expert Julia Shalet, this is a new format where we invite four companies to pitch their product, service or device live on stage to six teenagers and they tell us what they really think.

Real customers, real applications, real marketing
A double session with the first half covering customers and what they really want on mobile with a focus on women in particular with some new research and insight into what women want from Belinda Parmar of Lady Geek. The second half will cover mobile marketing and advertising, what's working, what's not and what's coming next.

I came up with idea around the event because we realised that most of the events I attend throughout the year all talk around the same subjects, with the same people and bring up the same issues, without
resolution. It’s time for us to stop talking to ourselves, look out beyond our industry and make some changes for the better. I believe it’s important to engage our colleagues in marketing, web 2.0 and media as well as more of our mobile colleagues from throughout the value chain.

The exciting stuff is going to happen when industries cross over – that’s where the innovation is. In putting the agenda together, we believe we have something that will appeal to a wide audience – whether
you’re a director of marketing for an FMCG brand or a web developer toying with the idea of developing apps for android or iphone. And to do that, we need to share real customer insight that we can use to make ours and others mobile lives better.

Tickets are now available online now for £99 (ex VAT and booking fee) at http://mobileheroes.net . We’ve kept the price deliberately low and it’s subsidised by sponsors who we’ll be able to announce shortly.

If you’re interested in sponsoring the event in some way - we have packages for companies of all sizes - please get in touch with me via email - helen [at] mobileheroes [dot][net] or phone   +44 794 053 8802

If you’re interested in pitching your device, application or service to our teenagers, please email Dominic Travers dominic[at]mobileheroes[dot][net] to put your name forward and what you'd like to pitch.

We are keeping a waiting list for potential speakers and panellists - we are still waiting for some speakers to confirm but we may well have spots available. If you’d like to be considered, please contact me with a short email giving me a bit of background about yourself, what you'd like to speak about and some examples of previous speaking experience (if any).

So get your tickets now at http://mobileheroes.net/register and become a fan on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Heroes-of-the-Mobile-Screen/152549732986 and follow us on twitter http://twitter.com/hotms to keep up to date.

And do the spread the word.

    best
    Helen

Telecom Council Executive Forum: Opportunities in India & China

    DATE/TIME: Tue, Nov 17, 12:00pm-2:00pm

The booming consumer markets of India and China offer untold opportunity
for the right investors. But it seems that in the West, we are blinded by
short-sightedness, and only try to shoehorn Western solutions into the
Indian market. This meeting is intended to help the local community gain
perspective on the unique nature of these markets. We'll discuss the types
of devices they use, the apps that make sense, how bills are paid and
mobile commerce, and what opportunities and threats are introduced by the
    growth of these Asian tigers.

Our Executive Forum meetings gather up to 40 senior-level people from
across the telecom ecosystem for highly interactive discussion.
