1. What is modish about? What gets discussed here?

This list is a companion to the newsgroup for the newsgroup
rec.arts.drwho.moderated (hereafter known as radwm) and exists for the
discussion of issues concerning its' effective operation. It is also the place
to lodge a No Confidence Motion against any or all of the radwm moderators. The
list is itself moderated, so you will hopefully find most of the postings to be
on-topic and polite.

Examples of recent discussion topics include: possible trolling posts in radwm,
invalid votes in the radwm moderator election, the requirements of being a
moderator, swearing on radwm, impersonating other posters, banning vs hand
moderation on modish, spoiler space and spoiler headers.

2. How do I post to it?

A. Send an email to modish-subscribe@yahoogroups.com, and posts from the list
will begin appearing in your inbox.

B. Join YahooGroups. Go to <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/modish/> and click on
the link Join Group - you will be led through the joining process for Yahoo (if
you're not already a member) and then will be subscribed to modish. You can
either have posts mailed to you, or read them in your web browser instead.

Modish is a moderated list, so the first posting that you send to it will not
immediately appear - your posting is in a queue waiting for an admin to approve
it. If this posting is approved, your future postings will go straight through
to the list from then on. If any future posting is contrary to the modish style
guide, you will be sent a warning message from the admins. If you continue to
contravene the style guide, you may be placed on hand moderation for a time (ie:
an admin will approve/reject all your posts). You can find the style guide in
the Files section of the modish wesbsite (see part 6), along with the radwm
style guide and FAQ. The modish guide is automatically mailed to new members and
appears on the list once a fortnight.


3. Somebody posted something bad! How did that get through? What can I do
about it?

Most posters to modish are auto-approved - their posts aren't hand moderated.
They can post anything they want. If you feel that their post does not conform
to the style guide then you can forward the post to
<modish-owner@yahoogroups.com>. Include a short note why you think the post
should not have been approved. If the admins agree, they will take action as
specified in section 2 above.


4. How can I appeal the admins' decisions?

If a poster is unhappy with a single admin's response on any matter, they can
appeal via email to <modish-owner@yahoogroups.com>, OR they may choose to have
the matter discussed on the list instead. However, once the admins deliver a
combined decision on any matter, whether via email or on list, that decision is
final and the matter closed for further discussion. Any further
discussion/debate on closed matters will be classed as trolling and dealt with
accordingly.

If a poster is unhappy with the combined decision of the admins, they may send a
complaint to the radwm moderation panel at <radwm-moderator@...>. The
decision of the moderation panel with regards to this complaint is final. Any
further discussion/debate on this complaint will be classed as trolling and
dealt with accordingly.


5. I posted something, but it took ages to arrive! What's wrong?

YahooGroups is occasionally mailbombed or undergoes routine maintenance, and
this can cause posting delays of up to 24 hours. Sometimes posts never arrive
at all. Wait 24 hours, and then post again if the original has not shown up.
