Nova Gorica, Slovenia, September 21st - 26th 2009


The Mediterranean Ethnological Summer Symposium was established 16
years ago with an aim to provide a place of encounter for scholars and
students of anthropology as well as neighboring disciplines. MESS is a
combined symposium and Summer school with five working days and an
excursion. Every morning a topic is introduced by two or three invited
lecturers who specialize in the selected field. The afternoon
workshops in various forms are dedicated to active student
participation. Students have the opportunity to discuss the introduced
topics and their own current research in the stimulating atmosphere.

MESS will take place between 21st and 26th of September in Nova
Gorica, Slovenia.
The working language is English. Certificates of participation will be
awarded at the end of the course.

Undergraduate (preferably in their final years), MA, and PhD students
in social/cultural anthropology, ethnology, sociology, history, etc.
are kindly invited to take part at the 16th MESS.

www.mess.si. Please note that that the number of students applying to
participate is limited to 15.

Price:
School fee: 15 EUR per day / 50 EUR for the whole week.
Please note: all payments are due on arrival!
Food, travel, accommodation costs and cost of an excursion are to be
covered by the participants.
