A real asteroid chasing the Rosetta probe?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #20008 of 22554 |
After the fuss about 2007 VN84, the online version of the German
weekly "Der Spiegel" now has a story saying that a real asteroid is
chasing Rosetta! (John Mahony's dream about the "one cult less"
might come true ;-)

They say that shortly before Rosetta's encounter, scientists from
Arizona discovered an object they now call "The son of Rosetta".
The object is not artificial and thus nothing broken off Rosetta.
It is said to be an Apollo asteroid.

For the original article (german) go here:
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/weltall/0,1518,517608,00.html

I was wondering why I haven't read about this here on this list,
i.e. no post by Ron Baalke yet. Also there is no hit on Google.com News.
And nothing on ESA's Rosetta website.

So I am wondering if all this is maybe just a canard.

Reiner
