Hi:

I've been a member of this group in the past - some 5 years ago but have leaved
for personal reasons and lack of observing oportunities.

I have not imaged a NEO, or comet in quite some years and was wondering if
astrometry readings is still on demand. And if the software to go is still
astrometrica.

I'm finishing a new observatory with some friends, and hopefully we will have it
ready in a few months, my setup (although there are others in the observatory)
is a Televue NP101 and an ATIK16HR, I hope to have it remote in some months.
Since I now have an observatory I can now apply for a code in IAU MPC, and am
planning to apply for one soon. And I was really hopping to do some work in the
asteroids area.

You can see some images of comets and asteroids in my page (with other setup and
quite some years ago):
http://astrosurf.com/paulobg/cometasteroides.htm

And one of pluto I also did (not great by today standards):

So I hope to learn and refresh a bit here in this group, and if anyone has some
ideia of the best place to restart I'll welcome any advice. Is IAU mpc still
interested in astrometry readings? do you have any link to where I can find
request for observations? Or are there other demands on this field?

Any info would be great

Sorry for any english writting mistakes... but beeing portuguese english is not
my main language.

Cheers all
Paulo Bénard Guedes

Paulo, ... It will be hard to find objects in need of observations with 10-cm of aperture. And 540mm of focal length won't give too accurate astrometry either...

Paulo, As Reiner mentioned, you are not going to find too many useful objects bright enough to be captured in a 0.10-m scope. One of the main sources of minor...

... Not just amateurs but professionals use it too. I am not aware of a "professional" software that can do the job better than Astrometrica, regarding...

Paulo's post got me thinking. Prior to beginning MP work, I used to think of LM as a constant. Since beginning MP work I now consider it more of a function of...

I'm not sure what happened with the follow-up of 9Q15ED2, a FMO that I found two nights ago. The NEOCP is currently posting a nominal position in the sky that...

Apparently the MPC has promptly fixed the problem and the nominal solution on the NEOCP is now about the same of the 3 provided before. Cheers, Andrea Boattini...
