All,

The pace is finally slowing after the July 19th Antiope occultation and
I realized have not had a chance to express my gratitude to everyone for
the Homer DaBoll award honor! Some of you nominated me, many of you were
pulling for me, I am still speechless on what to say about it. I am
supposed to write a mini acceptance speech writeup and photo, and I will
get to that soon once the monumental Antiope event is done processing. I
thank you all again for the honor and the well wishes!

Now as for that Antiope occultation event
(http://www.asteroidoccultation.com/2011_07/0719_90_23903_Map.gif) and
my efforts to once again broadcast the entire expedition live from my
vehicle and my telescope, many of you watched all night or tuned in way
too early in the morning, only to have the broadcast drop out
(completely unbeknown to me!) a few minutes before the spectacular fade
out and fade in of the target star as the shadow of the northern rock of
the binary asteroid (90) Antiope whizzed over my head! Fear not though!
I was recording while broadcasting, and I have put what you missed in a
video I just uploaded to Youtube at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMhPVk8JVM8

The resulting asteroid profile with my data combined with all observers
(and over 90 declared sites!) is nothing short of breathtaking! The
preliminary results as of July 24th, 2011 are here:

Up to the minute results and future Antiope results can be found at
IOTA's Results page:

Now as for other videos related to my expedition, if you are bored and
want to see parts of that night's broadcast that you missed, here are
the highlights:

Pre-deployment equipment tour:

Arrival at broadcast site +25km from centerline:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYeKDy1-30U

Start of live view through the mighty mini at +25km several minutes
before the occultation:

NOTE: I am going to do my best to resolve the unreliability issues of
the live video feed for future events. However it must be noted that the
availability and strength of cellular service (this is what I am
broadcasting on) at any given location I am traveling is beyond my control!

Cheers!

Scotty
