i have seen some crashes lately, especially when i crank
the bpm up to 1000 :) probably need to be locking something.

i'll try to have a look soon. also, i'm sitting on changes
such as trackmute in the gui. i'd like to get support for
non-note steps too, but i still haven't quite figured out
how it should look.
