No doubt ron will be there, I don’t go much anymore. There is usually only the pc crew there. If you go take a pc, that way you get to use the internet, share files and play quake 3

Yours Sincerely

If we had a facebook group page we might get a few more members and
some better activity happening. Any comments?

On another note, I am thinking of using a DS5000 for something.
Anyone got practical advice on them, any software tools,
particularly for linux?

I’m sort of a bit anti-social when it comes to the net, maybe backward is a better term email and google is all I do.

On the other note; I’m assuming the DS5000 is a storage system and not a digital voice recorder. I know some pretty keen young fellas who luv the dark side and might not mind me divulging their email addresses, I shall find out..

My current project is a dual speed controller for a twin screw pilot boat. To make it suit a radio control transmitter it will have tank/bulldozer style throttles. Adjusting the throttle will accelerate or decelerate both motors; pushing the throttle to the side will slow one motor and increase the speed of the other. Leaving the throttle centered and pushing it sideways will result in one motor going forward while the reverses. Doing it this way means you can use only two channels by plugging the rudder channel into the motor offset line and then the rudder servo into the correct socket on the PCB and have independent throttles and a rudder. I have included three open drain outputs which can sink 4 or 5 amps, dual diesel engine sounds which rev with the motors and a horn as well this will use seven channels and should provide quite a few opportunities for fun.

Yours Sincerely

Chris Holme

Gotta keep a bit active if your going to do any collaboration.

The DS5000 is an 8051 type micro with built in battery backed ram
an i/o in 40 pin dip.

You know people on the dark side? Interesting.

So what do you require a remote controled vehicle with authentic
diesel motor sounds?

Interesting, I’m working with an 8051 variant as well. Have a look at the CC1110. I’m using IAR C and a couple of the dev kits. We are doing Active RFID stuff. I have built the speed control using a PIC though.

Yours Sincerely

Chris Holme

And as for why I need to build the speed control with authentic sounds…………Who said anyfink about authentic? You can catch the first part of the story here http://www.wars.asn.au/warsbb/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=302 and while I was at it I thought I would chuck in a nice speedy. I mean think about it, two motors one ESC. May as well just have single screw. Besides, I have sneaky suspicion that this ol boy can still think so the more stimulating the boat is the better heh.

Yours Sincerely

Chris Holme

For those that do have a DS5000 or two lying around (or if you want to
borrow one off me).

I found http://www.rentron.com/project02.htm to have a nice collection
including datasheets and development for compiling and loading software
(M$ windows based).
