Dear all,
The next event will be on Wednesday 21st of March at 7pm in the
Canon's Gait in Edinburgh. Talks will be ...
* Mobile Access to Data - Don't forget voice!
"Love them or hate them, but don't disregard Interactive Voice
Response (or IVR) systems as only applicable to the big boys. We all
know how easy it is to find out the size of our overdraft with a few
key strokes via telephone banking, but did you know you can provide
this type of technology very economically for the smallest of projects."
Steve Brown of Justfone explains how you can implement this type of
system with a number of technologies, using traditional telephony and
Voice over IP.
* Mobile technologies for connecting physical
objects to digital data
"There are a number of technologies that enable mobile phones to
access digital content that has been linked to physical objects.
Approaches include tagging objects with passive markers such as 2D
barcodes or active markers such as RFID tags. We provide another
solution that identifies an object from an image taken on a camera
phone and returns relevant data to the handset."
Anthony Ashbrook of Mobile Acuity will provide a brief overview and
comparison of the main approaches and provide some live examples.
Looking forward to seeing folks there!,
Geoff.
