Hello everyone! Thanks for accepting me into the group. A little about
myself: I live and work in Pennsylvania as an editor. I just started
up a blog. I've had blogs before but I need advice. So please visit

relate to younger people (about 15 to 27.) Let me know what you think!
Thanks!
Robyn, just out of curiosity do you know how the comment avatars
for Movabletype are going? I received an email from Eric back on April 4th
that ya¢ll were extremely backlogged and to make sure that I had it turned on
in my settings. That was almost seven months ago. I am currently using Gravatar
but would much prefer to have MB comment faces.
Anyone know how hard it would be to code this using php or perl?
I am pretty much stupid when it comes to writing code but can somewhat hack
around.
Hopefully someone can help me out with this.
I logged on to MyBlogLog after a while to discover we now have to
authenticate with Yahoo. The website explained very clearly that my
account would be merged with yahoo after logging on successfully with
my yahoo id
Thats where i encountered a problem, after logging on the second time
with my Email and password to mybloglog, i was redirected to
http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/change_profile_url.php
This is where the page times out.
I used both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
I tried the whole process again having cleared all cookies from both
IE and Firefox. The browsers still get stuck on
http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/change_profile_url.php
anyone else experienced this ?
I am hoping there is an engineer that is looking into my problem as I
have tried to send a message via the contact us page.
I finally decided to post here, as I don't get a reply to my emails
from mybloglog regarding the problem I have.
The problem is that I can't add a new blog I've created (located at www.tattoosdb.com/tattoo-articles/ ) and the error I get is "Blog/Site
URL:* Oops, your blog/site is not accessible. Please make sure you
enter the correct URL."
Of course the site is live so I guess there is something to get done
in mybloglog's part. Thanks for your time,

Hi,
Just a quick post to introduce myself, I'm Gerald Bramwell aged 60 and
medically retired. I donate time and web space to a local animal
rescue charity in the Northwest of England called Animals in Distress,
the charity runs two sanctuaries with running costs of approx £7000
per week which is why I decided to provide and maintain two sites for
them. One is an informational site at www.animals-in-distress.net and
the other is an online shopping portal at
www.helpinganimalsindistress.co.uk I can be found with the username
warmbells which is an anagram of my surname with an s added. On the
main website I am known as Warmbells Holly Tanglepaws which was the
name of our Blue Cream Persian cat who sadly is no longer with us. We
have had two other Persian cats and now have six moggies all rescued.
That worked... I was using the pick list populated by my various Yahoo!
profiles and that didn't work. When I simply typed it in under 'use
nickname' that worked.
Thanks.

The 'be seen as' is supposed to work, but I can't log in as you so I'm not sure whether or not it's working. I can give you the instructions, and if it doesn't work, lemme know :)
Here they are:
Go to your profile and click 'Edit Profile'. Go to the Change Name and click that, it's right under your picture (see screenshot). Then choose 'use nickname' and type in whatever you would like to use (see screenshot).
Click OK. That should do it :)
As far as the pic, everyone had to reupload that (so that all the pics could be on the same servers). Sorry about that :(
I had not logged in to MBL in a long time and just had to do the
Yahoo!ID transition... I had to re-upload my picture and now my
profile shows as 'charlesgagnon' (my Yahoo! id) instead of
'grandcanuck', the desired id.
I have 'grandcanuck' defined in my Yahoo! profile and I see the option
to 'be seen as grandcanuck' when I edit my MBL profile. But regardless
of what I do or chose, it's always 'charlesgagnon' that shows up at
the top of my profile page.
Is the "be seen as" feature working?
I had not logged in to MBL in a long time and just had to do the
Yahoo!ID transition... I had to re-upload my picture and now my
profile shows as 'charlesgagnon' (my Yahoo! id) instead of

Thanks.
Thanks kindly for responding so quickly. In this particular instance, I did not hover over the photo long enough to see the red x. I would have used that. Actually, the matter is a bit complex so, I'll come back to my beautiful little MBL once we get a bit of resolution.
As far as I know, the only kind of contact we won't let you delete is an admirer and they only show up for you. No one else sees them, they are just there to let you know who claims to be a fan (hence the name, My Admirers).
If they are showing up on your homepage, you should be able to hover over their picture and just click the red x to make them disappear.
On more than one occasion, I've written on My Linkedin Power Forum why I think MyBlogLog.com is such a fantastic site for those who blog.
I LOVE this little site and I'm truly happy to see that Yahoo
Corporation was astute enough to purchase them.
Powerful. Good. Smart.
With one exception - if someone determines they are a contact of yours, you can't stop them.
There is a certain gentleman who claims to be a contact. But, among
other things, based upon his membership in a group which mocks and debases the memory of those killed on September 11th, I want no contact with him. I deleted the contact but, it reappears on my homepage. During the past 12 months, I've said no dozens of times to
this gentleman. When this same person told me that he was going to go to Linkedin Corporation in person to confront them about their trademark, I said no to that, too. He insists he has a right to visit Linkedin's office to pursue the matter. That was the final straw for
me and I'll leave that in Linkedin's hands to determine whether they welcome his presence at their headquarters.
Unfortunately, though Linkedin permits me to break the link with him, my wonderful little MyBlogLog.com does not permit me to say no to him. Thus, I must say no to them...
I don't mind having a somewhat smaller web footprint but, I will sorely miss you, MBL!
None of us can expect our friends to be perfect.
And none of us should put too much censoring into our relationships
with our friends.
But, when our friends join groups that mock catastrophic events like
September 11th, what do you do?
For example, look at this: http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/community/wtc/
Is there humor in that? I find none.
Is there any room at all for good will in that? I find none.
Would you remain linked in with a friend who knowingly advocates such a group?

If that is an unauthorized "copy" of you, is there anything being done
to stop people from posing as others on MBL?
The easiest thing to do would probably be to provide a random code that
must be inserted into the root directory of a web site for verification
before people can claim the web site as their own.
Robyn,
Do you have more than one MBL user ID?
I'm specifically wondering about this one:
http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/members/robynt/
Something seems fishy about it to me. Especially because I know you
here:

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're aware of the site being
slow after the switch over to Yahoo authentication. We're working on
it and have a temporary fix in place but expect that things will be a
bit wobbly while we put something more permenant into place. I'll
continue to post updates to the MyBlogLog blog
http://mybloglogb.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/09/working-out-som.html
The widget issue that John noticed yesterday afternoon was in
preparation for moving over hosting of userpics on the Yahoo
infrastructure. The Reader Roll widgets should be working fine now and
hopefully a little snappier now that we're on Yahoo's image caching
network.

Lisa and John, we actually announced it 2 weeks ago. I'm SO sorry you guys are having issues. I promise we are working hard to fix them. And Lisa, I know what you mean about having so many diff accounts.
That was one of the major reasons we decided to go to Y! logins. We thought it would be easier for our members to have one less login to remember.
I'll ping the engineers about your problems, but they are also on this list so they may answer you directly. Either way, we're going to get it fixed as soon as possible and we thank you VERY much for your patience and loyalty. Cheers!
This is really weird. I am showing up on your widget, John - so I guess I'm logged in, but, I'm already logged into Yahoo - so I guess that's it. Although I can't get to MBL to find out - it won't load right now.
So does this mean the people that do not have Yahoo accounts, will have to get one?
So I was forced to log in using Yahoo today. But there are problems.
1) I've never seen MBL move so slowly. It's downright painful.
2) The image upload function is not
working when you make the change. I've heard this from other people as well. 3) After allegedly successfully migrating to the Yahoo ID, I can't load my profile page at all. After a long time it loads to a blank page. Clearing cookies / cache doesn't help.
One other little point. I realize this change may have been announced on the MBL blog and I missed it if so, but with something this major I think it should have been announced at least a week in advance by putting a message on everyone's profile page in a conspicuous area.
Since people didnt know this was coming, and now it's not going well, there is going to be a lot of confusion and frustration.
...because I was just this morning thinking of only focusing on MBL and dropping bumpzee, blogcatalog, and spicypage - just to streamline my sidebars and my work load and to really get active in the community, instead of spreading myself so thin, you know?
Multiple blogs + multiple 2.0 sites = one tired mama
So - come on, MBL - be awesome and kick a*s again!!!! WE LOVE YOU!

Sorry, unfortunately I don't now the answer to that... mine is a paid account also, and it currently shows as a paid account. I would click "Contact Us" and send them a message, but you may want to just wait a little while and see if it corrects itself.
