Bcc: Mylow & bro
I've had a couple of phone chats with Mylow that I need to convey to you for the benefit of the open source project.
Last night, regarding Rick Friedrick and John Bedini's replication, he said "They're close. I like the way they set this up." He mentioned, again, the importance of not evenly spacing the magnets.
He said that he's going to start adding more magnets to the rotor ("Bob"s yinyang version).
When I talked to him this morning, he had calmed down quite a bit regarding his anger over the negative comments over at OverUnity.com, as reflected in the video he posted this morning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl4KlDpPVnc
He said he would be posting more videos with more magnets. I hope I talked him out of ever going back to OverUnity, as the rudeness is unceasing over there, and Stefan doesn't seem inclined to do anything about it other than retroactively delete out the bad stuff. He appreciated that I had boycotted them. I told Mylow that they are an unruly classroom and he should target his efforts on the good students in our classroom (Mylow_Magmo) who are paying rapt attention.

It was very gratifying for him to have his twin brother appear with him in his showing the 6-bar magnet motor running, as Tony has been a big skeptic in this. One of the reasons Tony did this was because he's tired of all the negativity that is being thrown at his brother, and he wanted to support him. So Mylow was especially angered by one of the comments at OverUnity calling them "a couple of clowns." That has about as much class as calling Stephen Hawkings "dumb."
I really enjoyed watching the video with the twins. In fact I grabbed some screen shots and made an honorary collage and posted it at http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:Mylow

Mylow said his wife wishes he wouldn't stay up so late at night working on this stuff. She knows how important it is to him, so she's supportive, but it's still hard for her.
He said he's been losing weight over this thing.
He said that he's not detected any weakening of the magnets in the present circular track configuration, compared to what he saw in the Stonehenge configuration. He speculated that the demagnetization there may have been due to the unbalanced presentation of the stator magnet in relation to the rotor magnets. Or it could be the protrusions in the channel magnets.
He said he will be so happy when someone finally replicates this. He just doesn't understand why it is taking so long when it is so easy for him. He wishes people wouldn't bombard him with so many technical questions. He's not a scientist, he's a tinkerer with a gift.
He said that he has tried fastening the bar magnets with the N side down, and it doesn't do what I predicted -- run the rotor in reverse. It just cogs and doesn't work. North needs to be facing up.
He wishes more people would post progress reports showing us what they have so far. He enjoys seeing these. He got a kick out of the "Redneck Replication" links I sent yesterday. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/mylow_magmo/message/1060
He reiterated that he's doing this "for the planet."
He appreciated my question to him about whether he would be willing to relocate for the purpose of getting set up with a lab (eventually, when revenue is sufficient to support it). He said he would be taking that up with his wife.
This morning, he was calling me from a public thoroughfare across from NBC TV's facility in Chicago. He seems to be anxious to get this on television. He pictures himself setting up his motor for passers by to gawk at, and then inviting the NBC crew over to take a look. I'm sure more planning than that would be good. TV crews are not sitting around waiting for things to show up across the street. Their guys are usually out on assignment.
I'm suggesting to him that we first take his 18x2 bar-magnet rotor version and have it independently tested, to have that under our belt before going to the media. He can hang on to the yinyang version to continue his instructional series.
I'm working up a version of the plans that I'll call 2.1, which will be Mylow's most recent set-up using the off-the-shelf magnets and Bob's rotor/stator assembly. I hope to have it ready in a few hours. It's nearly done.
Those who have purchased versions 1.0 or 2.0 will have free access to it. Those who don't have plans yet can get them from http://MylowPlans.com
