It's been such a wonderful day. I took my new bicycle and just rode for the sake
of riding. I've moved right near the ocean and I was dazzled by the incredible
clear skies, the smell of the seawater and the infinite blue. I ride and rode
and rode some more, on to somewhere I don't know, and didn't care because all
that mattered is that I was alive and having a perfect, endless moment.
I just saw Hugo this evening, with some absolutely beautiful friends. What a
glorious celebration of cinema, of the place where dreams are painted. Martin
Scorcese's love of film, of the magical, hypnotic spell that is woven and then
cast out upon the eyes of the audience, is so joyous, so heartfelt and
whimsical, it's truly a delight to behold.
There is a line in the movie that made me absolutely *beam* with delight. I
found myself whispering "Joseph..." when it was uttered by the main character.
No spoilers, 'tis all good.
"... I would come up here a lot. I'd imagine the whole world was one big
machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come
with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big
machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that
means you have to be here for some reason too."
Go see this movie, in 3D if you can; it's completely enchanting. :)
