Nanotechnology promises to create a new class of imaging agents that offer distinct advantages and can be used for the early detection and diagnosis of disease. Diagnostic molecules have the potential to act as biomarkers in drug development and diagnostics, and can be used in the imaging of cancer in living subjects. This meeting will address the challenges in implementing nanotechnology for drug delivery systems and imaging agents, and promote dialogue between diagnostic and therapeutic development.
