Hi everyone

The peak of the Perseid meteor shower is expected to happen TONIGHT!  To coincide with this there will be an observing session from 9.30pm onwards at Hauxley Nature Reserve.  As I write this, it’s raining outside, but Metcheck.com is showing an optimistic forecast of partial cloud cover (9%) at 9pm tonight.

There will be no further confirmation emails – have a look outside later this evening: if the sky looks clear (or not completely overcast!) the session will be going ahead.  Please give me a ring on my mobile if you want to confirm the session is taking place later.  Feel free to pass this message on to anyone without email access or non-members who may be interested.

If you intend staying for more than an hour remember to wrap up warm and I recommend you bring a flask of something hot!
