The best rule of thumb is to use the slowest film possible for any
subject. However you have to pay attention to your subjects
movement. You can get by shooting most reptiles with long shutter
speeds. Mammals are a little quicker and birds almost never stay
still. I usually shoot 50 or 64 iso. As you go higher in speed your
grain size increases. Todd
