SolidWorks Corporation Receives Patent For SmartMates
Technology
CONCORD, MASS. -
April 18, 2001 - SolidWorks Corporation, a leading provider of affordable, easy-to-use 3D
CAD software for the mainstream market, today announced that the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office has issued a patent to the company for its SmartMates
technology (Mate Inferencing Patent Number
6,219,049). SmartMates' snap-to-fit behavior enables users to
locate and constrain components in a fraction of the time it takes to manually
position and mate components. While other CAD programs require up to
four steps to mate parts, SolidWorks users can mate parts in only one step with
SmartMates technology.
