Re: [newcastle_astro] More NLCs Tonight
Hi
I got a quick shot (attached) of these NLCs tonight. It was shot through a window and with the obligatory telephone lines & street lights in the foreground!
I also uploaded it to here:-
Not a great shot but only a little effort went into it!
Regards
Simon

Hi,
Currently in the North West there is another display of these NLCs. These clouds are at an altitude of 76-85km. If you are reading this tonight have a look as they are fairly rare. The link below from John shows what you what they look like.

Thanks Simon, it is just a pity I had to use the neighbour's houses as street lamp shields. Cheers John H.

Hi,
Did anyone see these NLCs last night around midnight. They were fairly impressive from my location.

These mysterious clouds are known to flourish during years of solar minimum--and 2009 is such a year. This means more NLCs may be in the offing, not only over Europe but also North America and elsewhere. Check http://spaceweather .com for images, movies, and observing tips.
