However this was the conflicting advice Sky and Telescope:-   Wherever you are, no Leonids will be visible before the shower's radiant point (in Leo ) rises around local midnight. And peaks and bursts aside, the number of visible meteors increases steadily from radiant-rise until Leo is highest, just as the sky is starting to get light.   I’m not sure about the dynamics. If the radiant is just below the horizon would you still be able to see them? From here the radiant was rising shortly after 10. Massive waste of time. Sky clear here 7pm until 10pm. I saw maybe two or three per hour. Nothing like the expected number.

Who is that keeps bigging up these events? Is it someone who hates astronomers?

Currently the webcam at Cawfields shows overcast conditions:-

(However it doesn’t work to well in the dark!)

I suspect travelling inland towards Cawfields will be heading in to the cloud. So we may have to cancel or perhaps change venue. We have weather correspondents at the coast & at Hexham. So stay tuned as I think we will have to make a late decision on this.
