re-encode mp3s with a program who's output you know will play on the
MPM...at least that's the only way I've found to be sure.

Not a big fan of this as an Mp3 player, If thats your primary use, seriously look into Zen Xtra, While a few have died on people. I still use my early 20GB...

No...you're right...it will play VBR and bit rates up to 320 kbps...I know the problem though...and the only work-around for me has been to re-encode it with...
